[Literacy] Clixtiles Sight Words Boxes 🎁⠀
⠀
Literacy exercises such as recognizing sight words require repetition, lots of it. So what is a better way than using a colorful open-ended toy that your kids already love, to make your invitation-to-learn more appealing.⠀
⠀
All you’ll need:⠀
⠀
to build the boxes⠀
⠀
An erasable marker 🖊I used in white 👍🏼⠀
⠀
Write the sight words on as many small pieces of paper as you like, place them in a bowl or basket and you’re good to go.⠀
⠀
⭐ Fast and easy⠀
⠀
⭐ Start with three words at a time or even two. The last thing you want is to overwhelm your little one with too many words to juggle. ⠀

My kids’ school switched to distance learning, unexpectedly… ⠀
⠀
Well, let’s be honest, it was expected with the rising numbers… But I admit that I was hoping this year would start off as “normal” as possible.⠀
⠀
Not even a week has passed and our kids have had to accept that their school gates will be shut for one week (hopefully not more), that they won’t be physically greeted by their teachers and that they could only see their friends through a screen… that’s A LOT!⠀
⠀
So here’s what I plan to do…⠀
⠀
⭐️Take it slow, real slow⠀
⠀
⭐️ Loooowwwer my expectations⠀
⠀
⭐️ Accept the fact that unexpected changes happen. ⠀
⠀
It’s okay not to be perfect and it’s totally fine not to be prepared… ⠀
⠀
Our children’s well-being, and ours too, are all what really matter ✨
⠀
Do your kids go to school in person or are back to online learning?

[Literacy] Alphabet Coins 🌈 ⠀
⠀
⭐ Learning the alphabet is one of the first steps toward reading and writing in any language. I remember how my kids loved singing along the ABC song ever since they started talking. ⠀
⠀
These colorful watercolor alphabet coins + matching sheet from make my invitation to learn effortlessly attractive every single time. ⠀
⠀
I’ve downloaded the Alphabet Masterpiece Bundle more than a year ago and we still use it to playfully explore the letter sounds, names, sequence and formation. ⠀
⠀
✔fun and easy activity ⠀
✔low-prep (print, cut and laminated the first time and then you’re ready to go)⠀

[Literacy ] Name Recognition 🖍️⭐️FREEBIE⭐️
The first words many children learn to read and write are their names.
⭐️Not only is it an important skill that they’ll use, it’s also something that they’ll want to practice.
I created this sheet for Ms N(4yo) as a fun playful way to learn and practice.
⭐️I laminated it for durability but using a clear file or even covering the paper with clear tape will do the job.

Handmade Gifts ⠀
⠀
“GREEN mama, it’s GREEN!” 💚🍀🐢🦖⠀
⠀
My little Ms. N(4yo) found out her teacher’s favorite color last week and wanted to make her a special gift. ⠀
⠀
Since we’re still wearing masks at school we thought what’s better than a mask-holder :) Ms. N liked both shades of green so we decided to mix them and we surely love the end result! ⠀
⠀
There’s something magical about hand made gifts✨Do you agree? ⠀

Busy Pouches ✨ ⠀
⠀
There are times when we need our kids to quietly entertain themselves… That’s where busy pouches come in handy 👍🏻 ⠀
⠀
We take our busy pouches everywhere… Literally! Grandma’s house, restaurants, waiting rooms, in the car 🚗 And always have them ready for when we head out. ⠀
⠀
The number of times they’ve saved my sanity are countless! ⠀
⠀
➕How to make one?⠀
Use any portable bag/ pouch/ box/ container…Whatever works for you. ⠀
⠀
➕What’s inside?⠀
Fill it with age-appropriate activities that your child likes and keep them occupied while you’re on the go or busy attending to something else. ⠀
⠀
📝Here’s what’s in ours:⠀
Magnetic time table board from in Ms. D’s (7yo)⠀
Magnetic letter recognition board from in Ms. N’s (4yo)⠀
Dry erase board + markers⠀
Coloring books + mini coloring pencils⠀
Popits + Stickers + Notebooks⠀
Favorite Story books⠀
⠀
✔I like to choose things that aren’t too messy + easy for my kids to tidy up themselves.⠀
✖I avoid permanent markers, slime and anything that would require my attention… ⠀
That works against the purpose of these bags really 🤷🏻♀️⠀
⠀
And just like toy rotation, add/remove material to keep it interesting.⠀
⠀
⭐A constructive way to occupy kids’ time⠀
⭐The best busy bag is the one that keeps your child engaged and entertained⠀
⭐Fun way to develop fine motor skills + color, number, letter recognition and much more ⠀

Eid Adha Mubarak to all our insta-friends celebrating ✨⠀
⠀
Remember “the sheep who loves to read” bookmarks we made last year? 🐑📚⠀
⠀
Well, Dalia and I were so excited to know that our friends still use them and that they have remained intact 👌🏼⠀
⠀
So, I thought I’d share this easy and fun craft again with you here :) ⠀
⠀
Here’s a recap 👇🏽⠀
————————⠀
📝 First, we cut circles out of my yoga mat instructions sheet for the sheep’s body. You can use any paper that has text, like a newspaper, book or magazine.⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
** I love this squeeze puncher. Such a timesaver! **⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
🐑 For the head we printed sheep head outlines and cut them. You can draw them if you like. ⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
🌈 To add color, we colored the sheep fleece on the head only and glued matching color paper to the back. ⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
⭐ We decided to laminate them so they’re more durable, but you can skip this step if you like. ⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀
✏ Finally, we glued a popsicle stick to it and added Eid greeting + date. ⠀⠀
⠀

Be Kind- by Pat Zietlow Miller and Jen Hill is one of our favorite books about kindness. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
It is an insightful story that shows the methods of kindness in the eyes of a child, how tricky it can be, and how far generous actions might go ♥ across communities, nations and the world. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Today, my 7yo asked me:⠀⠀
“But why are some children unkind? Do you think someone was mean to them, or teased them?”⠀
⠀⠀
We reached a conclusion that while we do not know the reason why a child might be mean or unkind, we surely know that KINDNESS is a SUPERPOWER! 🦸🏻♀️⠀
⠀
⠀
✨I personally believe it’s our responsibility as parents and caregivers to raise kind children. ⠀⠀

[Fine Motor Skills] Gingerbread Lacing Cards 🪡⠀
⠀
Lacing cards are such a great activity to strengthen those little fingers’ muscles and develop fine motor skills. ⠀
⠀
They are also excellent for:⠀
✔improving hand-eye coordination ⠀
✔improving concentration, ⠀
✔keeping kids happily amused!⠀
⠀
Cut the gingerbread body from cardboard ➕ punch holes around the perimeter (more holes for higher difficulty)⠀
I then draw the details using a white chalk marker🖊⠀
⠀
You can use a plastic yarn needle 🧵or wrap clear tape around one end of the yarn to make it sturdy enough to push through the lacing holes. ⠀
⠀
I wasn’t expecting Ms D(7yo) to find this interesting, but she was so focused while figuring out the start and end points and tying her little hair bow and bow tie 🎀⠀
