There is just something about travelling that stops me from really nodding off. I don’t know what it is and why but I really struggle to fall asleep on a flight but anyway, made it back home smoothly and in one piece. Some stunning views from the window of the plane as we were crossing the South of Europe and close to Istanbul.

Throwback to roughly 1 year ago, visiting the country ‘across’ the pond properly for the first time. I had visited many years ago but that was as a layover and the 24 hours are a blur. Sharing the same language and some similarities to the UK but many differences. A brilliant experience though. Where is one place you really want to visit in the future?

Throwback photo (not now) but a powerful message to share. The best time to plant a tree was 25 years ago and the second best time is RIGHT NOW. It doesn’t matter if you procrastinated, if you haven’t started, if you are annoyed with yourself regarding something. Start now, push on. Start your diet, start your training, start your learning, start your kindness, start whatever it may be. Begin today and watch everything transform. Take action and learn to say NO to things that do not serve you. Just to confirm that this is a throwback photo and not now 😂

Here are 6 business-y words explained, each with an example sentence:

🧍‍♂️ (Buyer) Persona = a detailed profile of your ideal customer
e.g. Our buyer persona is typically a B1-level student who wants to become a C1/C2 advanced-level student.

😣 Pain points = specific problems / frustrations your customers have
e.g. One of our students’ biggest pain points is speaking English fluently and confidently.

✅ Need fulfilment = meeting or solving the customer’s needs
e.g. Our flexible class schedule is part of our commitment to need fulfilment for busy learners

🔍 Due diligence = research and checks done before making a big decision.
e.g. Before launching our academy, we did our due diligence to understand the market.

🌟 Unique Selling Proposition (USP) = what makes your product / service different and better than others
Example: Our USP is small group classes with expert native teachers and flexible schedules.

📉 Churn Rate = the percentage of customers who stop using your service
e.g. We reduced our churn rate by adding more engaging lessons and feedback.

A little breakdown of the weekend!
A short but beautiful visit to see Enzo again! A pleasure to be there to enjoy excellent company and delicious food 🤤
I did get ‘slightly’ scared of the dog though. I promise that I am normally ok but for some reason the dog was very energetic and barked a lot 😂
We all had a lovely time and now ready to attack the week! 🫡

This photo dump of the last couple of weeks is not for educational purposes, I do not have an intelligent caption nor a funny anecdote. It is what it is. Have a lovely day 👋🏻

Here are this week’s favourite expressions:

👟 Walk a mile in someone’s shoes = to imagine what someone else’s life is like
e.g. We all need to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes sometimes.

📖 Take a leaf out of someone’s book = to imitate someone’s good behaviour
e.g. He’s so patient... I should take a leaf out of his book.

💭 Challenge your assumptions = to question what you thought was true
e.g. Speaking with her really challenged my assumptions.

Have you heard any of them before?

5 phrasal verbs related to mood, energy & wellbeing:

🧹 brush off = to casually dismiss something negative
e.g. She brushed off the criticism like it meant nothing.

🔗 tap into = to connect with or make use of a resource or feeling
e.g. I try to tap into my creativity by meditating each morning.

🔙 bounce back = to recover quickly from hardship or negativity
e.g. Even after the failure, he bounced back stronger than before.

🙂‍↕️ kick in = to begin to take effect (often emotions or substances)
e.g. The calming effect of the tea kicked in after about 15 minutes.

🔋 recharge from = to restore energy or strength through a specific source
e.g. I recharge from spending quiet time in nature.

Can you add any new phrasal verbs to the list? 🤔

From burnout to Dream Job: How Cami & I built The English Life Academy 🌟
Swipe to see the real story.

Slide 2: (My Beginning)
I didn’t grow up dreaming of being an English teacher.
In fact, there was a time when I had no idea what I wanted - just that I wanted freedom, purpose, and a way to actually help people.

Slide 3: (The shift)
When I first started teaching English online independently, I had no students, no business plan, and no idea how to grow. Cami was juggling a full time job while editing, creating contracts, recording, and so much more. She still managed to constantly be the creative soul that she is, always full of brilliant energy 🌟.

Slide 4: (Now)

Now, we teach students from all over the world. Cami and I have 6 teachers working for The English Life Academy. Xante, Carla, Stephania, Emma Marshall, Emma Jenkins & Bethany. This incredible team helps students truly become fluent and confident in real life. We teach from anywhere but more importantly… we teach with purpose.

Slide 5: (Real Results)
We have helped doctors ace interviews, businesspeople lead meetings in English, and everyday people speak without fear.
This is not just grammar and textbooks.
It’s about transformation in a fun and dynamic way.

“I am grateful for The English Life Academy. Classes are interesting fun and full of energy. I also appreciate the care, help and feedback provided to every single student, which I didn’t expect from an online school. This academy is high-quality learning” Katia.

“I joined this academy 9 months ago, and not only have my speaking skills improved, but also my communication skills due to the activities we are handling together with other students from all over the world”.

Slide 6: (What makes it different)

What makes The English Life Academy different’
