I was that woman too…
The woman who gives endlessly in her relationships, who always holds space for others before herself, considers others’ feelings before her own, qnd the same woman whose business is slowly wearing her down.
In love, you’re the one who always initiates repair. Always apologizes first.
In business, you overexplain before anyone asks. You say yes to a discount or bonus before the client even hesitates or requests.
Both come from the same quiet belief, that you have to earn your place by exhausting yourself first.
But that belief was never yours to begin with. A much younger version of you learned that love and safety were conditional, that you had to prove something just to be allowed to stay.
She was scared, and she found a way to cope. That coping became a habit you’ve been carrying ever since.
If you stopped overgiving today, what would you actually be afraid would happen? In love or in business?
That answer is usually the same in both places.
And underneath it, that fear was never true. It’s an old story your ego picked up to keep you safe, still running the show long after it needed to.
