TLE is an educational platform emphasizing on STEM using specially tailored hands-on activities for That is our Promise. If not, he doesn't have to.
The Little Engineer has become education institution with both business to business and business to client channels. The emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics is conveyed by specially tailored hands-on learning activities that allow kids and teens to unleash their full potential in pre-engineering skills while focusing on robotics, coding, renewable energies, aviation, autom
otive and space industries, Internet of things, Artificial intelligence, 3D modelling and much more. Currently we are collaborating with ministries of education in the MENA region, Africa and the USA in hopes of bridging the gap between theory and practice & schools and universities. By doing so we are allowing for a new generation of engineers that are not only ready for the labor market, but are passionate enough to give back to the wounded world. MISSION
We aim to invest in young minds and enable them to unleash their full potential in STEM concepts, trough proven hands-on/minds on learning workshops and courses. We aspire to bridge the gap between theory and practice, between schools and universities. Moreover, we strive to cultivate today’s talents and mold them into future pioneers to be ready for the fourth industrial revolution. VISION
The Little Engineer is expanding locally, regionally and globally to become among the leaders in delivering products, services and class solutions for schools in the STEM field, while exposing the largest number if kids, teens and educators to the latest innovations and technological tools needed to excel in this broad field. HISTORY
Rana Chemaitelly, instructor in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the American University of Beirut, teaching in the Mechanical and Engineering Management Department, a mother of three kids decided to launch the Little Engineer venture in Beirut, with the aim to protect her 3 kids and the future generation, from being addicted to the TV, Internet, Electronic games (PSP, Nintendo, Wii….) "I believe that I can at least distract my kids for few hours in the week, away from electronic games, entertaining them with some educational and environmental activities, to prepare them to meet the challenges of the future. Today they can be students in the center, few years from now, in their teenage years, they will join The Little Engineer as facilitators for younger students. Nothing to lose as far as I have the will, the funds, the leadership and the initiative to convert the dream to reality, and I always say "When there is a will there is a way". Let us give the Lebanese Kids and Teens the chance to express themselves, show their hidden skills and compete with others in worldwide competitions. The Little Engineer concept was conceived March 2009, and was tested in July 2009 by launching a summer activity, a six-week program. Kids enrolling in one of our programs were visiting us once per week, for 3 hours each time for six weeks. It is truly our pleasure to enhance the child's awareness of new technologies and encourage the creative growth in exploring the various possibilities offered by the engineering field. Today, The Little Engineer provides Summer and after-school activities that supplement the traditional learning environment. It offers an open space where children can have fun while building skills like creativity and problem solving – skills that are not necessarily addressed in the classroom. The Little Engineer guarantees a friendly atmosphere with qualified staff catering to small groups of children who work and play together at their own pace. What we offer
TRY ME SESSION
Try me sessions is the first step allowing learners to discover the world of robotics, renewable energy and earth sciences. It is an eye opener and a motivational session helping the child in the detection of his interest and orientations. The “Try me session” are usually one or two hours of activities where the child comes to our center and explores what we have to offer before he registers in any course. If he likes what is offered, he can register. Usually the try me session activity is not an activity offered in the course. FULL COURSES
Ages 6 to 9
Robotics level 0A, Robotics level 0B
Ages 10 to 15
Ai module (gopura), Robotics level 1, Robotics level 2, Robotics level 3, Robotics level 4, Introduction to Arduino, Civil engineering course, JavaScript
Ages 16+
Internet of things (IOT)
SCIENTIFIC BIRTHDAYS
Scientific Birthdays are a new start, a fresh beginning, and a time to pursue new endeavors with new goals. The Little Engineer created a brand-new concept for birthdays. Competition, team work and fun environment are our focus. The birthday boy/girl along with their friends will compete on the best robot design for one hour and thirty minutes. Scientific birthdays are becoming the Trend. They are usually 90 mins of TLE activity and 30 mins of birthday celebration. CLUBS IN SCHOOL
TLE is expanding at fast pace, not only through our local and regional franchises but through our Clubs in school. Clubs in schools are a TLE moving Satellites aiming to:
• Implement our unique programs while collecting the ultimate number of learners from each school
• Participate in the technological development of each school’s curriculum
Clubs in schools are usually after-school sessions to deliver different courses to different age groups in the school. These activities take place on campus and consist of 20 hours delivered once a week: 90 min each session with a total of 13 sessions. NATIONAL COMPETITIONS
National Competitions annual events to gather all our students from different schools and centers from different regions to compete on an annual scientific theme. The Dancing Robot project was a unique initiative that came to be in collaboration with Mona Boustros Foundation. With hopes of integrating innovation and technology in public schools. Students of grade 10, 11 & 12 were able to manipulate the robot into dancing the traditional Lebanese dabke. National Robotics Competition day is a yearly tradition, where we invite our stakeholders to The National Robotic Day where students will compete on the strongest robot. Solar Car Race is a friendly, interactive and educational competition initiated where learners compete over the fastest solar car while using technology and recyclable material. BOOT CAMPS: WINTER, SPRING AND SUMMER CAMP
According to our yearly tradition, The Little Engineer organizes three boot camps: Winter, spring and summer. Our goal is to attract students aged 6+ in order to distract them from the world of electronics. For a whole week pupil are going to be exposed to several activities that encourage them to be creative, think outside the box and know better about their own capabilities by exposing them to new and different activities. SCHOOL VISITS
School visits: Our objective is to reach out to the ultimate number of learners, inspire them and introduce them to the world of robotics and renewable energy. Thus, we welcome k-12 learners -coming from all backgrounds and schools- in all our centers. Through our mind-blowing activities we are stimulating those children and planting the seed of knowledge. According to their age we are providing two hours activity highlighting several topics as basics of robotics, renewable energy and earth sciences. They are cosmist of 90 min inspiring hands-on learning session to engage learners in STEM, they are delivered in schools or in our centers during the school time. STEM CLASS SOLUTIONS
