Students from UAE schools recently concluded a “Sustainability and Global Citizenship” Camp covering aspects of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Melissa Kaur from The Global Citizenship Education Group, Singapore, expertly delivered the camp.

Participants were given an insight into some key SDGs and the efforts that are being made to tackle these issues.

Virtual tours of Gardens By the Bay, the National University of Singapore, and public housing systems in Singapore impressed upon sustainable living in Singapore.

In expanding their knowledge of the SDGs and sustainability, the participants were challenged to develop an innovative idea and also had the opportunity to meet with the co-founder of YSI - Irsyad Ramthan

Some fantastic ideas from the team included implementing a more flexible, adaptable form of a solar panel for the citizens of UAE living in apartments, developing specialised electric vehicles in the UAE and building awareness of more sustainable transportation forms to help reduce air pollution within the UAE.
