If your child consistently says "KA" instead of "TA" (for example, "cap" instead of "tap"), they may be showing a phonological process called backing.
In backing, sounds that should be made at the front of the mouth (like /t/ and /d/) are replaced with sounds made at the back of the mouth (like /k/ and /g/).
Speech therapy doesn't just teach children to repeat words. It helps them: ✨ Learn the correct tongue placement👂 Hear the difference between sounds🗣️ Practice sounds in syllables, words, and sentences🏡 Use the correct sounds during everyday conversations
Every child is different, which is why a thorough speech and language assessment is the first step toward effective therapy.
