Guided by the words of the great man Nelson Mandela: "Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world", the UAE Branch of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors touched the lives of Filipino children through a very successful outreach program of distributing school bags and supplies as a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR programme.
On 10th July 2017, forty (40) grade 5 students of Malis Elementary School from Guiguinto province of Bulacan in Philippines were chosen as beneficiaries of school supplies packages. Each of them received 1 backpack, notebooks, pad papers, pencils, ball point pens, crayons and other supplies for their basic education needs. The beneficiaries chosen were identified from needy families who in need of assistance.
This is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project of AIQS in Philippines. Mr. Nonilo Vergara and his family handed over the donations to the children on behalf of AIQS-UAE. Mr. M. Sathiyaseelan, secretary of AIQS-UAE and a member of CSR sub-committee and Mr. Ajantha Premarathna, chairman of AIQS-UAE also played a big part in supporting this CSR Project.
AIQS-UAE has carried our similar CSR proejcts annuly such as flood relief support to victims in Sri Lanka through the Counsulate General Office of Sri Lanka in Dubai by arranging 100 foldable mattresses on 26th May 2016.
In 2015, earthquake victims in Nepal were provided with 500 winter blankets through Red Crescent Society of the UAE.
