🛡️ Self-Defence at The Overlord Academy 🛡️

At The Overlord Academy, we believe in empowering our cadets with essential life skills. One of the core elements of our curriculum is self-defence, and we’ve chosen Jiu Jitsu as our go-to martial art. Why? It’s non-striking and technique-based, focusing on using leverage and control rather than brute force.

Learning how to defend yourself is not just about physical strength—it’s about confidence, discipline, and staying safe in real-world situations. We make sure self-defense remains a key part of our training, helping every cadet feel capable of looking after themselves. 💪

Our cadets took another step toward becoming more capable and prepared! Tonight’s first aid training session helped build essential skills that could make all the difference in a time of need. Super proud of their teamwork and focus!

📍🌍 In today’s digital world, it’s easy to rely on GPS, but learning to read a map is a powerful skill for young people! 🧭 Our patroller cadets have been honing their navigation skills, gaining confidence, and learning to problem-solve without technology. 💪 Not only does map reading build independence, but it also sharpens spatial awareness and critical thinking. Plus, it connects them to the real world in a way screens can’t. 🗺️🌲 In an age of shortcuts, knowing the long way round can be the most valuable skill!

Did you know at The Overlord Academy one of the life skills we teach is self defence which is included in the training curriculum. Ensuring our cadets know how to protect themselves has got to be a non-negotiable for us. We don’t learn to strike but instead learn how to defend.

At our cadet club, we emphasize the importance of discipline, self-reliance, and taking pride in our appearance. As Major General Harold W. Chase once said, “Take pride in your appearance. It shows that you are responsible and pay attention to detail.”

Ironing and sewing your own clothes might seem like small tasks, but they build self-sufficiency and discipline, key qualities for any successful cadet. Each crisp crease in your uniform represents your commitment to excellence and readiness to meet any challenge.
