EYFS Thanksgiving Assembly – A Celebration of Gratitude and Joy
The EYFS Thanksgiving Assembly was a joyful and heartwarming celebration that brought together students and staff in a spirit of gratitude and appreciation. The event provided a meaningful opportunity for our young learners to reflect on the many blessings in their lives and express their thankfulness to their teachers, friends, and the wider school community.

The assembly commenced with the recitation of the national anthem by a group of students, followed by the recitation of the Qur'anic prayer by a selected group of students, led by Mr. Mohammed Bilal from FS2 B, setting a reflective and thankful tone for the occasion. This was followed by a beautiful rendition of the Doxology by another group of selected children. The welcome address was confidently delivered by Luna and Judah from FS1, who warmly greeted the audience and introduced the programme.

A highlight of the assembly was the series of thanksgiving performances presented by each EYFS class. Through songs, actions, dances, and heartfelt expressions of gratitude, the children showcased their confidence, creativity, and enthusiasm. Each class brought its own unique charm to the stage, making the programme vibrant, engaging, and meaningful. Their performances beautifully conveyed the importance of appreciating the people who care for and support us every day.

Our School Principal, Mr. Stephen Sibthorpe, addressed the gathering with an engaging and child-friendly message on the importance of gratitude. His thoughtful words resonated with both children and adults alike. Ms. Mari Ella, Vice Principal – Secondary, also spoke on the occasion, emphasizing the value of being thankful and appreciative in our daily lives. The EYFS Lead, Ms. Remediana Rodrigues Dias also addressed the students and reflected on the many achievements and blessings experienced throughout the academic year. The vote of thanks was eloquently proposed by Master Levi and Miss Rithu from FS2 A, who expressed appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.

A particularly touching moment of the assembly was the special tribute to Vice Principal Ms. Ishani and Sr. Joselina. The EYFS community expressed heartfelt gratitude for their dedicated service, unwavering support, and commitment to the growth and success of our school. Their contributions have had a lasting impact on the lives of students and staff alike.

The success of the Thanksgiving Assembly was a testament to the dedication and hard work of our teachers, teaching assistants, and support staff, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare the children for their performances. Their efforts ensured that the programme was both memorable and enjoyable. As we approach the end of this academic year, this special assembly served as a beautiful reminder of the power of gratitude and kindness, and community.

Talk on Financial Literacy – Savings & Banking

On 22nd June, 2026, an informative session on money management and a future career in banking was held for the students of years 5 and 6. The session was led by a staff member of SMHSM, Ms Shilpi Misra, who has prior experience in the financial and banking sector.
The session sparked students' curiosity about money and finance, helping them understand the difference between the two. They were led to believe that they held the power to manage their pocket money and create savings that would amount to a significant figure by the time they were in Year 13. Savings are the starting point of making money grow in later life.
Students were also made aware of the role of Finance Managers in the banking and corporate sector as a career option.

EYFS2 to Year 1 Transition Meeting

Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming our EYFS2 parents for an informative and engaging Transition Meeting as we prepare our children for their exciting journey into Year 1. The session provided valuable insights into the transition process, highlighting the academic, social, and emotional changes children can expect as they move from the play-based EYFS curriculum into Key Stage 1. Parents were introduced to the expectations of Year 1, teaching approaches, routines, and ways they can support their child's continued growth and learning at home. We are grateful for the wonderful partnership we share with our parents. By working together, we can ensure that every child experiences a smooth, positive, and successful transition, building on the strong foundations established in EYFS. A special thank you to all the parents who attended and actively participated in the discussions. We look forward to seeing our children embrace new opportunities, challenges, and achievements in Year 1.

Laughter, excitement, and plenty of splashes filled the air as our EYFS1 children enjoyed a fantastic Water Play Day! Armed with water guns and a variety of water play toys, the children spent the day exploring, playing, and making wonderful memories with their friends. From friendly water-spraying games to imaginative play with different water resources, every activity encouraged teamwork, communication, coordination, and active outdoor learning. The Primary Department celebrated World Environment Day on 4 June 2026 with the theme, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”, through a series of presentations held in the Main Hall. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of caring for our environment and promoting a more sustainable future for the next generation.

The Year 6 students successfully facilitated the program through engaging and informative presentations that helped younger students understand the importance of protecting the environment. Highlights of the event included a presentation by Class 6A on the different Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that support environmental protection, a presentation by Class 6B on environmental issues such as deforestation, biodiversity loss, and climate change, and a presentation by Class 6C on practical environmental campaigns and solutions that can help create a more sustainable world. These presentations encouraged students to think about their role in protecting the environment.

The program concluded with take-home activities that students will complete with their families. Year 1 students will create a Family Environmental Pledge, Year 2 students will take part in an Eco-Friendly Challenge, Year 3 students will conduct a Garbage Audit, Year 4 students will keep a Food Waste Diary, Year 5 students will complete a Transportation Survey, and Year 6 students will monitor their household electricity use through an Electricity Consumption Tracker. These activities will be carried out and monitored throughout the month of June.

One Earth, One Future!
