Water play gives many opportunities to develop gross and fine motor skills across the age ranges. Young babies love to reach out when water is being poured in front of them, they love to feel the trickle and try to grab the flowing water with an eager grasping hand.
Young children enhance their gross motor skills, coordination and physical fitness through lifting, pouring, carrying, running, splashing and paddling in pools, while actions such as squeezing help to develop the small muscles in a child’s hands.
As children manipulate water play materials, they build their scientific enquiry and problem solving skills, as they begin to understand why and how things happen. For example, a child may notice that one object sinks in the water and another object floats, which prompts them to add more objects to the water to see what happens. As they continue to investigate which objects sink and float, a child will soon discover that a heavier object sinks, while lighter objects float, no matter how big or small they are.

Communication is crucial to Belonging, Being and Becoming
Literacy is the capacity, confidence and disposition to use language in all its forms. Therefore, when you read to a child you are helping them get to know how to use a book correctly (they are precious) how to sound new words, why intonations in your voice are important, help spark their imagination and stimulate curiosity and most importantly you are helping your child develop their brain and their ability to focus, concentrate and communicate.

Messy play what a great Sensory Activity
EYLF is the curriculum on which educators base their planning to facilitate children’s learning. Today the learning outcome we were working on is Outcome 4 Children are confident and involved learners, which highlights the importance of allowing children to learn about themselves and the world around them through hands-on investigations.
Because messy Play encourages children to be so actively engaged, it is a fantastic tool to promote experimenting and investigation using all 5 senses: touch, smell, taste, sight and sound. Hence, the importance of ensuring our programs focuses on the belief that by providing children with opportunities to have unlimited access to open ended art materials, allows them to use their own creativity and create their own work that is meaningful to them..

In the next few months, our children will reflect on all our community helpers. Last week, our first visitors were the Sharjah Civil Defense Team. The children were thrilled to see the firetruck and hear the siren.
The firefighters and defense personnel demonstrated exceptional care and attention, allowing our children to fully immerse themselves in what it would be like to be a real firefighter.
Civil defense personnel enthusiastically engaged the children, allowing them to operate the fire hose, explore the fire truck, and even sound the fire truck sirens multiple times.
Additionally, the officers took their time to interact with each child, learning their names and ensuring their safety as they climbed on and off the truck. Their infectious smiles throughout the event underscored the importance of fostering respect and admiration for our local heroes.

What a great morning we are having at AIN with all the children going around and receiving gifts and lollies from all their friends and educators.
All the children did so well coming to AIN wearing their fancy traditional clothing. Girls wore colourful dresses and looked adorable, to say the least, and of course, had accessories to match, such as bags and headdresses. The boys looked so handsome, wearing a Kandura and Ghatra, God Bless them all.

We want to share with you a little bit of what our children did on the 14th of February 2024. We refer to this day as Kindness Day and link it to our Early Years Learning framework outcome 2. Children are connected with and contribute to their world. AIN is continually working with children to instill the values of fairness and we develop their ability to recognise unfairness and help them to act with compassion and kindness toward others
Psychologist Richard Weissbourd from Harvard said:
“Our vision is a world in which children learn to care about others and the common good, treat people well day to day, come to understand and seek fairness and justice, and do what is right even at times at a cost to themselves.”
