UAE literature deserves to be read, discussed, and shared more widely.
Behind every literary tradition, there are first voices, brave experiments, private memories, and stories that help us understand a society from the inside.
From Sara Al Jarwan’s role in opening space for Emirati women’s fiction, to Thani Al Suwaidi’s experimental novel The Diesel, to Reem Al Kamali’s Rose’s Diaries, Emirati literature carries identity, memory, language, and imagination.
These works remind us that a country is not understood only through history or public images. It is also understood through the stories its writers choose to preserve.
Maybe this is the kind of literature we should look for more often in our libraries — from Mohammed Bin Rashid Library to public libraries across Dubai — and introduce to younger readers, students, and book lovers.
What Emirati book do you recommend everyone should read?

Minority literature is not only about stories.
It is about memory, identity, language, and survival.
When a community is pushed to the margins, its literature becomes a voice that refuses to disappear. It keeps history alive, protects culture, and reminds the world that every people has the right to be seen, heard, and remembered.
A language can survive in a poem.
A homeland can survive in a story.
A people can survive in literature.
What if humanity lost a language every two weeks?
According to UNESCO, this is already happening.
And when a language disappears, we do not lose only words.
We lose memories, stories, poetry, humor, identity, and entire ways of seeing the world.
In this video, inspired by the UNESCO book What Makes Us Human, I explore why language is much more than communication — and why protecting minority languages may also mean protecting humanity itself.
Because every language carries a human world inside it.

Reading is not just about finishing pages.
It is about learning how to think more deeply, question ideas, and see the world with sharper eyes.
Good readers do not only read words.
They analyse, connect, reflect, and grow through what they read.
One small reading strategy can completely change the way you understand a text.
Read actively.
Think critically.
Grow continuously. 📚

Local literature gives children more than stories — it gives them roots.
When kids read or listen to the stories of their own culture, they discover their language, history, humour, pain, wisdom, and identity.
Let them read the world, yes.
But let them also know the stories of home.

Reading is not just a school skill.
It is a life skill.
The books we read shape the way we think, speak, write, and understand the world.
Every page is a conversation with a new mind, a new idea, a new life.
Read not only for exams.
Read to grow. 📚✨

They wake something up inside us.
Fihi Ma Fihi — In It What Is in It — is one of Rumi’s deepest works: a book of conversations, reflections, and spiritual wisdom.
Rumi does not speak only to the mind.
He speaks to the hidden part of the human being — the heart that is searching, questioning, and trying to understand life.
A book for anyone who loves meaning, silence, wisdom, and the journey within.
