Happy World Dance Day 💃🕺
In uncertain times like these, when so many people are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or a little lost, there’s something incredibly powerful in going back to something simple… and human: movement, music, and play.
As a lifelong performing arts advocate, I’ve seen firsthand how dance, singing, and theatre can transform people of all ages. This isn’t just about performance—it’s about connection, expression, and wellbeing.
Science backs it up too:
✨ Movement releases endorphins and reduces cortisol (stress hormones)
✨ Group activities like dance and choir boost oxytocin, strengthening social bonds
✨ Learning choreography or music improves memory, coordination, and cognitive flexibility
✨ Creative expression supports emotional regulation and mental resilience

UP THE KINGDOM!!! So proud this women. Not only is she from Co. Kerry in Ireland where my family are from, but I’ve had the privilege of seeing her career develop from BBCs search for a Nancy on ‘I’d do anything’, to an awarding winning production of Stephen Sondheim’s ‘a little night music’, for which my sister was the stage manager. And the theatre, TV, and film she’s done since graduating from RADA have seen her grow and grow and grow as an actress. Well done Jessie ❤️
