Using some reporting verbs like say, think and believe can help you set the right tone. They make it clear that the idea or information doesn’t come from you.

Here’s how you make sentences with reporting verbs:

👉 It + be + past participle + that + clause

For example:

👉 It is said that the global population will rise.
👉 It is thought that regular exercise improves mental health.
👉 It is believed that technology will replace many jobs.

Examiners want to hear you use some phrasal verbs, but here’s the thing – they must be correct and sound natural.

When you’re still learning new phrasal verbs, getting some controlled practice helps you learn them faster. Eventually, you stop having to think when you need to use them.

I am not gonna gatekeep anymore!!!
Many people keep failing IELTS not because they don’t know English,
But because they don’t understand how examiners mark answers.

Many have struggled with this, especially in Writing & Speaking, until they focused on exam strategy, not just grammar.

Once you understand the marking criteria, preparation becomes clearer and less stressful.
