vs hashtag ....!
The Most Misunderstood Safety Concept..!

Let us raise awareness together..!

Many people confuse hazards with risks, but in safety knowing the difference is important.

hashtag → is the Source of Danger
Hazard is the unsafe condition that exists even before anything happens.
It exists before an incident
It is the source of potential harm
It creates unsafe conditions
It can be inherent or latent (not obvious but still there)
It determines the severity or consequence
It is static or constant until controlled
hashtag : wet floor is a hazard it has not harmed anyone yet, but the danger is already present.

hashtag → is the Possibility of Harm
Risk is the chance that a hazard will actually cause harm.
It exists after a hazard is present
It is Hazard Ă— Exposure
It grows with unsafe actions
It is residual (some risk remains even after controls)
It depends on likelihood or probability
It is dynamic or changeable
hashtag : walking on a wet floor without caution creates a risk of slipping and getting injured.

Key Takeaway:
Identify hazards before they create harm
Implement controls to reduce risks
Continuously monitor because risk is dynamic

Safety is not luck it is → (Awareness + Action + Prevention)

Have you seen situations where people confused hazard and risk?

electrical installations are never temporary in their risks.
One mistake in DB distribution or inspection can cause shock, fire or full project shutdown.

construction sites, temporary power keeps everything moving, but it also introduces serious hazards.

placed DBs, overloaded circuits, missing RCDs or weak inspections are common root causes of electrical incidents.

projects treat temporary power as a designed system not an afterthought.

Temporary Electrical DBs Should Be Distributed (Hierarchical Principle):

#1) Main Distribution Board (MDB)
Located near the power source (generator / temporary grid)
Equipped with: Main Isolator, MCCB, Earth Leakage Protection
Feeds Sub DBs only (no direct load connections)

#2) Sub Distribution Boards (Sub DBs)
Zoned across the site by work areas or equipment groups
Minimize distance to points of use to reduce cable hazards

#3) Final DBs / Socket Outlets
For tools, welding machines, pumps, etc.
Individual MCBs per outlet + RCD/ELCB 30 mA

Planning Must Consider:
Site layout & activities
Load calculations
High-risk zones (water, excavations, night works, etc.)
Accessibility and vehicle/plant movement

Prohibited:
DBs in waterlogged areas
Hanging on rebar or unstable structures
Placing directly on the ground

Installation Requirements:
Raised stands or fixed supports
IP55 minimum
Weather protection (shade/cover)
Clear ID (DB number, source, diagram)
Lockable enclosure

Basis & Types:
Based on Risk Assessment
Electrical PTW or LOTO checklist
HSE procedures and requirements
Manufacturer instructions and recommendations
-Use: (new/relocated DB)
: visual inspection
: documented inspection (electrical/HSE)
: competent technical (PAD test)

Inspection Elements:
RCD/ELCB 30 mA with functional test
Correct breaker ratings
Earthing System
Industrial cables no taped joints
Labels, warning signs, matching records
Defect log, tagging (Safe / Unsafe)
Immediate isolation if needed

temporary power = Sound design + Correct distribution + Continuous inspection + Strong documentation.

DBs as critical assets not temporary conveniences.

your projects, what causes more electrical incidents: poor DB distribution or weak inspection and follow-up?

Housekeeping
A Clean Site Is a Safe Site
Good housekeeping helps to reduce:
* Slips, trips, and falls
*Fire risks
*Damage to tools and equipment
An untidy workplace is more than just an eyesore — it is unsafe.
Key Safety Reminders
*Keep all walkways free from obstructions
*Wipe up spills as soon as they occur
*Stack and store materials correctly
*Dispose of waste only in approved bins
*Roll up hoses and cables after use
Why This Is Important
Many serious injuries begin with small issues such as:
*Loose debris
*Oil or grease on the floor
*Tools left lying around
When minor hazards are ignored, they can quickly turn into major accidents.
Worker Engagement Question
What is one item or area we can improve, clean, or organize better today?
Closing Safety Message
Always leave your work area safer and cleaner than you found it.
