The Humanities Research Fellowship for the Study of the Arab World, in collaboration with the Archives and Special Collections of the NYUAD Library, is offering travel awards for scholars researching the Arab Heritage and Gulf Crossroads collections and other thematic holdings of the NYUAD Library.
📌 Grant Details:
✈️ Airfare: Up to $1,500
🏨 Accommodation: Up to $100/day
📖 Per Diem: $100/day for research at NYUAD Library
📅 Spring Term: March 1–May 15, 2025

This hybrid session is designed for NYUAD students at any stage of their education and is a great opportunity to learn about the career paths available, the opportunities in the regional private sector and the intricacies of working in privately-owned companies. Our panelists are owners and next-gen leaders from leading family enterprises and will discuss what it’s like working within a family business or alongside your own family. Through a panel discussion featuring leaders and representatives from family businesses, we will explore the role and influence of family businesses in driving regional economic growth and societal change, as well as look at how legacy impacts today's business leadership. Additionally, a focused lecture will provide an overview of the history of merchant families in the Gulf and a visit to the NYUAD Archives and Special Collections will allow participants a direct encounter with the documented entrepreneurial heritage that has shaped the region’s development.
