Meet Abbas Abdulsamad, our new Assistant High School Principal for Grades 9-10.

With more than 20 years of experience in education across the Gulf region, Abbas has worked as an English Literature teacher, assessment and AP coordinator, and school leader. Most recently, he served as a Vice Principal in Abu Dhabi.

But there’s another way Abbas likes to measure success: through what he calls his “Happiness Matrix.”

For Abbas, success is about the positive impact he can have on the people around him - how many students he can inspire, how many parents he can support, and how many colleagues he can help succeed.

Innovation has also been an important part of his journey. Abbas developed the “Go Pro Classroom” initiative to bring technology and new ideas into teaching and learning. The initiative was shared through the Mohammed Bin Rashid Smart Majlis and later selected for presentation at KHDA’s “What Works” event.

And a fun fact? Abbas once made his son’s graduation unforgettable by surprising him with a visit from his favorite actor, Basim Yakour!

From creating happier school communities to creating unforgettable family moments, Abbas believes in making a positive impact.

What does it feel like to represent the UAE, compete against top swimmers from around the world, and achieve a personal best by more than six seconds?

For Seleena Haddad, who was in Grade 8 at the time, the Penang Invitational 2026 in Malaysia was a journey filled with proud moments, new challenges, medals, friendships, and unforgettable experiences.

We caught up with Seleena to hear what it meant to wear the UAE colors, the lessons she learned competing internationally, and the goals she’s setting for what comes next. 💙

Originally from New York City, Meredith brings a truly global perspective to GAA, having lived and taught around the world - most recently in Beijing, China. 🌍

In the classroom, she loves making her students laugh and bringing psychology to life through creative activities, engaging projects, and plenty of curiosity.

And when we say she’s adventurous, we mean it: Meredith climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro - all 5,895 metres of it! ⛰️👏
