We should have a Behavior and Performance charts for teachers....
How did this title make you feel or think?
Yep... and that is how our students feel too.
What do these behavior charts do?
They track behavior, but do they change anything? Try to remember of a time that it worked successfully all through the year? For every grade level?
This chart makes anyone looking at it, even before they look at the rest of the classroom think: “ sad look at student X “ always behaving badly...
What do you think the feeling of a child when entering the classroom would be then? Very demoralizing right?
For kids who are not able to adhere to the cultural expectations of school for whatever reason there is, what do you think or how do you think their future actions or feeling will be?
Do not think it is only demoralizing for that kid who is always in the red zone! Other kids who are always in the bright and happy side are also affected psychologically. Do you know how stressful this is for them? To keep their places in that beautiful side of the chart?
Some school members in one of the most prestigious schools in Abu Dhabi came up with some great ideas , such as field trips for X points taken for certain behavior, not only that, this was applied to all the classes in the middle school and every subject teacher did the same thing. It was a big success for a certain period of time( very long), but started towards the end of the year to slowly have no effect in some subjects? Why do you think that is? How can this be fixed? what measurements has and had to be taken for such an amazing program to take place successfully in future?
Any more ideas other than behavior charts that clearly displays “Good and Naughty”?
Ideas please?

TALENT x EFFORT = SKILL
SKILL x EFFORT = ACHIEVEMENT
When you apply effort to a talent, you get a skill. And when you apply effort to a skill, you get achievement.
Without effort, your talent is just untapped potential.
And without effort, your skill is just something you could’ve done, but never did.
That is why grit counts twice, and that is why it’s such an important factor.
Why Some Students Fail And Other Students Succeed Angela Lee Duckworth, a teacher turned psychologist, reveals what factor determines whether a student will succeed or fail. Read: http://www.illumeably.com/2...
