A rising sophomore in NYU Abu Dhabi’s Class of 2029, studying Business, Organizations and Society (BOS).

A new chapter in NYU Abu Dhabi’s journey.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Fabio Piano as the next Vice Chancellor of NYU Abu Dhabi.

The founding Provost and longtime member of the NYU community, Fabio has been instrumental in shaping NYUAD from its earliest days, helping establish its academic foundation, supporting its growth as a global university, and advancing its commitment to education, research, and innovation.

With deep institutional knowledge and a longstanding connection to our community, Fabio will lead NYUAD into its next era of discovery, collaboration, and impact.

We look forward to the future ahead.

When Farzan Ahmad Khan first arrived at NYU Abu Dhabi in 2014, it was the first time he had ever left Pakistan

Twelve years later, he is heading to the University of Oxford 🎓 as an Oxford–Pershing Square Graduate Scholar. One of only five recipients globally each year and the first NYUAD alumnus to receive this scholarship

Farzan spent a full decade at NYUAD, four years as a student and six years as staff. During this time, he did not just study electrical engineering; he actively helped shape campus life:

- Coached and reimagined the men’s cricket program 🏏
- Launched a women’s cricket team
- Chaired the NYUAD Staff Council 🗣️
- Worked in global education and student life, contributing to student experiences across campus.

Now, he will pursue an MSc in Education and an MBA at Oxford through the Pershing Square Scholarship 📚✨, focusing on higher education systems and social impact

At the heart of his journey is a simple belief: education has the power to transform lives

This week at NYU Abu Dhabi: research, innovation, and ideas shaping the future 🌍

🎬 Social scientist and filmmaker Saba Karim Khan is using documentary storytelling to explore identity, resilience, and the global influence of hip-hop through W.R.A.P. (We Really Are Pakistan) - showing how music can become a language for culture, community, and change.

⚙️ A new collaboration between NYU Abu Dhabi and Sindan UAE is turning research into real-world impact — from advanced manufacturing and R&D to giving students hands-on experience solving industry challenges beyond the classroom.

📚 100 stories, generations of lessons. Together with Tharawat Family Business Forum, NYU Abu Dhabi marks a major milestone documenting family businesses across MENASA. The project, led by Martin Klimke, traces entrepreneurial journeys while uncovering lessons in resilience, leadership, reinvention, and long-term success across generations.
