Finland did not build one of the world's best education systems by controlling its teachers. Its success was built on one thing - trust in the teachers they put in front of their children.
And that trust, Olli-Pekka says, travels all the way through to the students, creating classrooms where children feel safe enough to say what they do not understand. That is where learning begins.
