44 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT BOB MARLEY

Bob Marley (February 6th, 1945 - May 11th, 1981) was a Jamaican reggae artist and pan Africanist. The following is a stride through his life.

1. Bob Marley's father, a white Jamaican, was originally from Sussex, England, whose family claimed Syrian Jewish origins.

2. BOB was initially named "Nesta Robert Marley".

3. A Jamaican immigration official suggested to Bob’s mom that “Nesta” sounded too much like a girl’s name. So they switched his name to "Robert Nesta Marley".

4. As a kid, Bob had a knack for deeply spooking people by successfully predicting their futures through reading their palms. At seven, having just returned to his village after a year spent living in the ghettos of Kingston (Jamaica’s capital), he declared that from then on he would cease to read palms. His new destiny, he said, was to become a singer. For the rest of his life, whenever someone who knew him back asked him to read their palms, he resolutely refused.

5. In 1955, when Bob Marley was 10 years old, his father died of a heart attack at the age of 70.

6. Marley and Neville Livingston (later known as Bunny Wailer) had been childhood friends in Nine Mile.

7. In 1963, Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh, Junior Braithwaite, Beverley Kelso, and Cherry Smith traded under the name "The Teenagers".

8. They later changed the name to The Wailing Rudeboys, then to The Wailing Wailers, at a point they were discovered by record producer Coxsone Dodd, and finally to The Wailers.

9. "Tuff Gong", the name of Bob’s recording label, was a nickname Bob earned for himself in the Kingston ghetto of Trenchtown (so named because it was built over an old drainage trench) for being exactly the wrong guy to mess with, Ever.

10. The first single "Simmer Down" for the Coxsone label became Jamaica's number 1 in February of 1964, selling an estimated 70,000 copies.

11. In 1966, Marley married Rita Anderson, and moved near his mother's residence in Wilmington, Delaware in the United States for a short time, during which he worked as a DuPont lab assistant and on the assembly line at a Chrysler plant, under the alias Donald Marley.

12. Though raised as a Catholic, Marley became interested in Rastafari teachings during the 1960s, a step away from his mother's influence.

13. After returning to Jamaica, Marley formally converted to Rastafari and began to grow dreadlocks.

14. The Wailers' first album for Island, Catch A Fire, was released worldwide in April of 1973, packaged like a rock record with a unique Zippo lighter lift-top. Initially selling 14,000 units, it didn’t make Marley a star, but received a positive critical reception.

15. It was followed later that year by the album Burnin' which included the song "I Shot the Sheriff".

16. Eric Clapton was given the album by his guitarist George Terry in the hope that he would enjoy it. Clapton was suitably impressed and chose to record a cover version of "l Shot the Sheriff" which became his first US hit since "Layla" two years earlier and reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 14th, 1974.

17. Many Jamaicans were not keen on the new reggae sound on Catch A Fire, but the Trenchtown style of Burnin' cemented admiration across both reggae and rock audiences.

18. The Wailers broke up in 1974 with each of the three main members pursuing solo careers. The reason for the breakup is shrouded in conjecture; some believed that there were disagreements amongst Bunny, Peter, and Bob concerning performances, while others claimed that Bunny and Peter simply preferred solo work.

19. Peter Tosh’s birth name was Winston Hubert McIntosh. "The Toughest", as Tosh was known, was murdered in his home on Friday, September 11th, 1987, by a 32-year-old hoodlum acquaintance of his named Leppo. (Tosh was a guitarist in The Wailers, and a very important reggae singer/songwriter in his own right.)

20. When Bob discovered that the reason he was still poor after being so famous for so long was that his long-time manager and friend Don Taylor had been robbing him blind, Bob beat Don within an inch of his life. Then he fired him.

21. Despite the break-up of the group, Marley continued recording as "Bob Marley & The Wailers".

22. On December 3rd, 1976, two days before "Smile Jamaica", a free concert organised by the Jamaican Prime Minister Michael Manley in an attempt to ease tension between two warring political groups, Marley, his wife, and then manager Don Taylor were wounded in an assault by unknown gunmen inside Marley’s home. Taylor and Marley’s wife sustained serious injuries, but later made full recoveries. Bob Marley received minor wounds in the chest and arm.

23. Under the name "Bob Marley and The Wailers", eleven albums were released, four live albums and seven studio albums. The releases included Babylon by Bus, a double live album with thirteen tracks, released in 1978 and received critical acclaim. The album, and specifically the final track "Jamming" with the audience in a frenzy, captured the intensity of Marley’s live performances.

24. In July, 1977, Marley was found to have a type of malignant melanoma under the nail of a toe. Contrary to urban legend, this lesion was not primarily caused by an injury during a football match that year, but was instead a symptom of an already-existing cancer.

25. Marley turned down his doctors’ advice to have his toe amputated, citing his religious beliefs, and instead the nail and nail bed were removed and a skin graft taken from his thigh to cover the area.

26. While Marley was flying home from Germany to Jamaica, his vital functions worsened. After landing in Miami, Florida, he was taken to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

27. Bob Marley died on May 11th, 1981 at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Miami (now University of Miami Hospital) at the age of 36. The spread of melanoma to his lungs and brain caused his death.

28. "Money Can't Buy Life". These were his final words to his son, Ziggy.

29. According to some of Marley’s biographers, he devoted to the Twelve Tribes Mansion, one of the Mansions of Rastafari. He was in the denomination known as "Tribe of Joseph", because he was born in February (each of the twelve sects being composed of members born in a different month). He signified this in his album liner notes, quoting the portion from Genesis that includes Jacob's blessing to his son, Joseph.

30. Marley had a number of children: three with his wife Rita, two adopted from Rita’s previous relationships, and several others with different women. The Bob Marley official website acknowledges eleven children.

Those listed on the official site are: Sharon, born on November 23rd, 1964, daughter of Rita from a previous relationship but then adopted by Marley after his marriage with Rita, Cedella, born on August 23rd, 1967, to Rita, David "Ziggy", born on October 17th, 1968, to Rita, Stephen, born on April 20th, 1972, to Rita, Robert "Robbie", born on May 16th, 1972, to Pat Williams, Rohan, born on May 19th, 1972, to Janet Hunt, Karen, born in 1973 to Janet Bowen, Stephanie, born on August 17th, 1974; according to Bob's mother, Cedella Booker, she (Stephanie) was the daughter of Rita and a man called Ital with whom Rita had an affair; nonetheless she was acknowledged as Bob’s daughter, Julian, born on June 4th, 1975, to Lucy Pounder, Ky-Mani, born on February 26th, 1976, to Anita Belnavisv and Damian, born July 21st, 1978, to Cindy Breakspeare.

31. Aside from music, football played a major role throughout his life.

32. Marley surrounded himself with people from the sport, and in the 1970s he made the Jamaican international footballer Allan "Skill" Cole his tour manager.

33. He once told a journalist, "If you want to get to know me, you will have to play football against me and The Wailers."

34. Marley saw ma*****na usage as a vital factor in religious growth and connection with Jah, and as a way to philosophize and become wiser.

35. A statue was inaugurated, next to the national stadium along Arthur Wint Drive in Kingston to commemorate him.

36. In November of 2014, Forbes Magazine listed Marley as fifth on the list of the highest-earning dead celebrities. With the release of Marley Natural Fine Cannabis, Marley’s estate can expect to rocket up the posthumous earnings list in the future.

37. Marley has sold more than 75 million albums in the past two decades. Legend, a retrospect of his work, is the best-selling reggae album ever. More than 12 million copies have been sold internationally and several thousand new units are sold every week.

38. He was a vegetarian due to his devotion to the Rastafari practice "Ital".

39. His favorite Reggae singer was Dennis Emmanuel Brown, and he thought the rest were "sk**ks."

40. He was buried on home turf along with his Gibson Les Paul guitar, among his interests.

A love for Ethiopia extending till date;

41. The global icon said of his religious belief: “I would say to the people, Be still, and know that His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia is the Almighty…. I don’t see how much more reveal our people want. Wha’ dem want? A white God, well God come black. True true.”

His wife Rita Marley is quoted as telling the UK Guardian that Marley’s life was about Africa and not his native Jamaica. Reports indicate he was baptized into the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. His wife is on record as saying: Ethiopia is his spiritual resting place.

During his 1978 trip to Ethiopia, Marley stayed in Shashamane, “a communal settlement situated on 500-acres of land donated by His Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I to Rastafarians that choose to repatriate to Ethiopia,”

Keeping Zimbabwe’s liberation war afloat, celebrating independence in Harare;

42. His track ‘Zimbabwe’ released in 1979 was said to be instrumental in the liberation struggle that eventually gained the country independence the year after.

A Zimbabwe professor, Fred Zindi, confirmed his impact in an interview with Forbes in 2005 saying: “Certainly, Marley’s music has potency and a commitment which goes far beyond simple entertainment.

43. He was also an advocate for the rights of black people, spoke up against poverty and a fighter against western oppression. Bob Marley, the film, tells the story well.

If you don’t know your own value, your oppressors will tell you your value, and it will be significantly lesser than you are actually worth.

The white society writes all of the narratives - to falsely exalt themselves and to falsely marginalize Africans - they created the false narratives that the ancient Egyptians of Africa were ridiculously Europeans. Furthermore that Africans were uncivilized and illiterate before the Europeans invaded and therefore has no significant history. The truth however is that DNA analysis have scientifically proven that the ancient Egyptians were in fact Africans. Carbon date testings have scientifically proven that the ancient kingdom was built by Africans thousands of years long before the Europeans and Arabs arrived there during the 7th century. And the world oldest university, manuscripts, encyclopedia, mathematical tools, human prosthetic, and world’s largest man made structure are all found within Africa.

THEY LIED WHEN THEY SAID THAT AFRICANS WERE ILLITERATE AND UNCIVILIZED BEFORE THE EUROPEANS INVADED:

To propagate the myth of their racial superiority - by always falsely marginalizing we Africans - the white society also teaches us that we Africans have no significant and unique history that predates their enslavement and colonizing because before then Africa was uncivilized and illiterate. This however is totally untrue. The hidden reality is that long before the Europeans invaded Africa, it was Africans- when we called ourselves Moors - that civilized Europe. This included introducing science, math, philosophy, and even the daily bath to Europeans. Queen Isabella of Spain bragged that she had only bathed twice in her whole life. Queen Elizabeth I, claimed that she was the cleanest woman in all of Europe, for reportedly bathing once a month.

Within the Western society all of their Universities and Colleges teaches that the world's first scholars and those that introduced science art and culture to the world were the Greeks. But the fact is that all of Europe’s Greek scholars received their formal education in Africa’s ancient Egypt. The Greeks openly admitted that their knowledge originated from Africa. When Isocrates wrote of his studies in the book Busiris, he said that “I studied philosophy and medicine in Africa’s Egypt.” So the truth is it was Africans that civilized the world but the white society feeds its countries distorted narratives to falsely exalt themselves.

White schools also teaches us that the father of medicine was a Greek named Hippocrates. However the true father of medicine was an African named Imhotep. Imhotep was practicing medicine and writing on the subject 2,200 years before Hippocrates, the so called father of modern medicine, was even born. Imhotep is the author of an Egyptian medical text written on Papyrus , which contains almost 100 anatomical terms and describes 48 injuries and their treatment.

There exist countless numbers evidences and facts that refutes that lie. To mention just a few: The world’s oldest university, manuscripts, encyclopedia, mathematical tools, works of art, and largest and oldest man-made structures are all in Africa. These noted facts equates to the exact opposite of being uncivilized and illiterate.

Timbuktu University:

The Timbuktu University (in Mali, Africa) and its library are older than any of those found within the Western world. It was composed of three schools, namely the Masajid of Djinguereber, the Masajid of Sidi Yahya, and the Masajid of Sankore. During the 12th century, the university had an enrollment of around 25,000 students from Africa. In Timbuktu, there are about 700,000 surviving books. They are written in Mande, Suqi, Fulani, Timbuctu, and Sudani. The contents of the manuscripts include math, medicine, poetry, law and astronomy. This work was the first encyclopedia in the 14th century before the Europeans got the idea later in the 18th century, 4 centuries later.

Africa is also the craddle of mathematics.
The world’s oldest mathematical tools were discovered in Africa.

THE ISHANGO MATHEMATICAL TOOL :

The Ishango Mathematical Tool was invented by Africans dating as far back as 22000 years ago, in the Upper Paleolithic era. The Ishango tool is an attestation of the practice of arithmetic in ancient Africa.
There was also discovered in Africa, another mathematical tool.

THE LEBOMBO MATHEMATICAL TOOL:

The Lebombo Tool is indeed the oldest known mathematical artifact in the world. It is even older than the Ishango bone. Discovered in the 1970s in Border Cave, a rock shelter on the western scarp of the Lebombo Mountains in an area near the border of South Africa and Swaziland (now Eswatini).

Great Zimbabwe:

Great Zimbabwe is an ancient city in the south-eastern hills of Zimbabwe near Lake Mutirikwe and the town of Masvingo - originally called the Shona civilization. The stone city spans an area of 7.22 square kilometres (2.79 square miles) which, at its peak, could have housed up to 18,000 people.
These gigantic brick buildings and walls were erected nearly 2000 years ago. It is recognized as a World Heritage site by UNESCO.

The world’s largest man made structure was built by Africans:

There exist in Africa within the ancient Nigerian city of Benin the ruins of a Great Wall four time larger than the Great Wall of China.

The Great Wall of Benin in Edo state Nigeria was the largest man made structure in the history of the world. The walls are four times longer than the Great Wall of China and consumed 100 times more materials than the pyramid of Giza. The walls extended for some 16,000 kilometers in all and covered a space of 6,500 square miles. It is estimated that it took over 150 million hours of digging to construct and were all built by the Edo people.

In all, they are four times longer than the Great Wall of China, and consumed a hundred times more material than the Great Pyramid of Cheops. Even before the full extent of the city walling had become apparent the Guinness Book of Records carried an entry in the 1974 edition that described the city as: “The largest earth-works in the world carried out prior to the mechanical era.” – Excerpt from “The Invisible Empire”, PD Lawton, African Historical Ruins.

Sadly, in 1897, Benin City and its Great Wall was destroyed by British forces under Admiral Harry Rawson - in what has come to be called the Punitive expedition. The city was looted, blown up and burnt to the ground. This expedition destroyed about 1,100 years of Benin history and one of the evidence of African civilization. The expeditionary force was made up of 1,200 British soldiers.
It brought an end to the great Benin Kingdom and led to the looting numerous Benin historical artifacts. A collection of the famous Benin Bronzes are now in the British Museum in London. Part of the 700 stolen bronzes by the British troops were sold back to Nigeria in 1972.

The monumental building achievements of Africa’s ancient Egyptians also proves that Africans were not illiterate nor uncivilized.

Many will say that we cannot include the ancient Egyptians because they’ve been miseducated by the white society about the race of the ancient Egyptians. White historians have stolen the glorious history of Africa’s ancient Egypt and falsely portrays it as theirs, and have manipulated the entire world to see things their way.

Here are the facts:

Egypt is located in Africa, and its Pyramids, and the Great Sphinx, were built by Africans thousands of years long before the first Arabs and Greeks arrived there in the 7th century. And in 2012 DNA analysis conducted on Pharaoh Tutankhamen, Ramses III, Ramses IV and several other mummies proves that Africa’s ancient Egyptians were indeed Africans. Their DNA matches proved that they belonged to human Y chromosome group E1b1a. This is the Y chromosome group of Black Sub Saharan Africans who speak Niger–Congo languages.

Within white governed schools - as a means of maintaining white social dominance Black students are being miseducated to believe that Africans were uncivilized and illiterate. The hidden reality is that long before the Europeans invaded Africa, it was Africans- when we called ourselves Moors - that civilized Europe.

All that we learn from the oppressors are lies that falsely exalts themselves and falsely marginalizes us. The white society is literally falsely scripted to propagate the myth of white racial superiority over Blacks. According to white social scientists, doing so elevates and unifies the collective self esteems of the white masses while simultaneously instills a value system into the collective subconscious minds of Black people that makes us more compliant with their white dominance over our lives. Through this whitewashing practice, the collective self esteems of the white masses have been falsely bolstered at the expense of the collective self esteems of the Black masses. True Black liberation will only happen when Black people learn of the many nefarious social sciences that the white society secretly deploys to facilitate their long term oppression of us, and then develop counter strategies.

Have you ever noticed that the results of virtually all studies conducted by white people favors themselves over Black people? Can you not see just how cartoonishly unrealistic this scenario actually is?
It’s a fraudulent propaganda designed to instill the myth of white racial superiority into the collective subconscious minds of Black people. White social scientists found that doing so makes Black people more compliant with white dominance over our lives.

Don’t be fooled. If the oppressors were truly superior, they wouldn’t have to work so hard to convey it; nor would they have to work so hard behind the scenes to manipulate those whom they claim are inferior. Once you start researching facts you’ll then realize that the myth of white racial superiority over Blacks ONLY prevails when white people are controlling the narratives.

Case Point and Proof:

Do you know that African Babies Advance Earlier and Faster Than European Babies?

In the Developmental Psychology of the Black Child, Dr. Amos Wilson analyzes studies conducted by white social scientists that revealed significant differences in how quickly Black babies develop compared to European babies. The study found that at only 9 hours old African babies were able to prevent their heads from falling backwards. It took European babies roughly six weeks to accomplish this. By the time African babies were 11 months old, they were able to climb the steps alone while European babies typically didn’t accomplish this until they were 15 months old. The study focused specifically on African babies, but Wilson explains that the same trends were also found to be true in Black children of other nationalities.

Studies have also found that Whites are also More Prone to Life Time Mental Disorders than Blacks: Four recent studies funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Consortium on Psychiatric Epidemiology Studies (CPES) reported that whites have the highest rate of lifetime mental disorders. These four reports are also a direct contrast of the perpetuated myth of white superiority.

When they started integrating sports by allowing Black athletes to join white teams, those white team owners that initially refused to integrate found it impossible to remain competitive against those teams that had integrated. All those white teams were not able to compete against teams integrated with only 1 to 3 Black players on their rosters. This refutes the myth that the bodies of whites are superiority to Blacks. It in fact reveals the exact opposite.

A Cornell University led study also found that Whites are both genetically weaker and less diverse than Blacks:

The Cornell study, published in the journal Nature, also found by analyzing the genetic makeup of 20 White Americans and 15 African-Americans, that whites had many more possibly harmful mutations than did African Americans. That fact was reinforced by a larger-scale study, also published in Nature, led by scientists from the Universities of Michigan and Virginia who analyzed genetic samples of 485 individuals scattered around the globe whose DNA is recorded in a French databank. The researchers also found that Blacks are genetically stronger and had the greatest amount of genetic diversity. White people are far more prone to various genetic defects, malfunctions and disorders.

The true reason white people performs laboratory experiments on white in**ed lab rats is to see how experiments will potentially go over in the Caucasoid population. If they want to know how something will impact the normal population, the benchmark used is normally a colored rat. In the human world, if they want to know how something will impact the normal human population, their benchmark is a black human being. Black humans contain the fully dominant developed genes and genealogy is the benchmark for normalcy. The myth of white racial superiority over Black people only prevails when white people are exclusively controlling all of the narratives.

Intelligence and the DNA Revolution:

According to geneticists the higher the DNA series is within a particular group, the higher the chance of genius existing within that group. Within two major studies one in 1996 and another in 2018, researchers determined the genetic contribution to intellectual giftedness by analyzing DNA samples from people around the world.

In the 1996 study 15 geneticist from 9 different universities around the world, tested the DNA series of 136 people from around the world. They first tested apes. When they tested the Orangutan they found that it only had 3 DNA series. When they tested the gorilla they found that it had 4. The chimpanzee had 5. They then studied Europeans ( England, Germany, France, Russia, and Spain) they found that Europeans have 6 DNA series. All other groups tested from around the world also have 6 DNA series except Africans. Africans have 9 DNA series. Africans therefore has the highest probability of genius existing within their group. These findings were published by Yale University in a manual entitled the Global pattern of linkage disequilibrium and modern human origin.

In the 2018 study, researchers analyzed DNA samples from 1,238 people recruited; the results were again the same: All other groups of people have 6 DNA series and Africans have 9. This scientific result may actually provide us the reason behind the hidden fact that in spite of cultural traumas wrought by the injustices of white racism, and slavery, most inventions that revolutionized the world were either invented by a Black person, or was inspired by an earlier invention by a Black person.

YOUR PERCEPTION OF REALITY IS AN ELABORATE WHITE DECEPTION.

The public’s shared way of thinking is not based upon reality nor facts. It’s shaped by the narratives that are fed into the society and white people are writing all of those narratives. Therefore the basic tool required for the distortion of reality is to merely feed distorted narratives into the society; the public at large then functions based upon those false narratives rather than what’s actually true. This is how the white society has created the perception of white racial superiority over Black people. They constantly feeds distorted narratives into the society that falsely exalts themselves and falsely marginalizes Black people. This creates false assumptions within the society that aids in maintaining their white social dominance over Black people. According to white social scientists truth is not important, what’s only important is what’s perceived as being true. Because people function based upon their perceptions of what’s true rather than what’s actually is true. ( It’s why social scientists often says that perception of reality is more important than reality when it comes to controlling people.) It’s a well proven social science practice.

Your Perception of Reality is an Elaborate White Deception:

It’s most likely that you’re now functioning based upon the commonly held perception that Caucasians are responsible for most inventions that have revolutionized the world, and that Black people are the leeches of society that haven’t invented much throughout history.

It’s in fact the great minds of Black people that moves the society forward.

When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic.”

I know that for some of you, this last statement may be a hard pill to swallow, given how negatively Black people are depicted within the white society. We are constantly portrayed as being the Blacks leeches of society that benefits from the genius minds of white people. However, a lie is still a lie even if everyone believes it’s true. And the truth is still the truth even if no one believes it.

The white society conceals the fact that most inventions that revolutionized the world were either invented by a Black person, or were inspired by an earlier invention by a Black person by white-washing their history books, and by producing falsely scripted movies that wrongly gives themselves credit for most inventions made by Black people.

WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD:

Do you know that the Sanitary Pad was developed by a Black woman name Mary Beatrice Davidson. Until sanitary pads were created, women used all kinds of reusable fabrics to absorb menstrual flows.
Mary's invention was initially rejected. The first company that showed interest rejected it because of racial discrimination. The world had no choice, her invention was too important to be ignored. In 1940, Dr. Charles Drew, another African American doctor achieved yet another medical pioneering break through. In his short life of only 46 years, Charles revolutionized blood storage. His refrigerated “blood mobiles” stored blood at a temperature to prolong its shelf life. This further revolutionized blood storage and plasma banks for WW II.

While Black people studied our Bibles, believing that it contains true knowledge that will protect us, white social scientist studied instead how to mentally enslave the collective minds of large targeted populations - utilizing their monopoly over information. They then used that gained knowledge to mentally enslave millions of Black people.
