Mr. Sakamoto, former principal of President William McKinley High School from 1978-1988, was a fiercely proud and respected leader. McKinley Alumni Association board director, Lisa-Anne Mitsuka Chan shares, “Mr. Sakamoto brought an inspiring energy to everything he did, particularly in his efforts to recruit members for the McKinley Alumni Association and champion their alma mater. His life was anchored by his deep devotion to his wife, Patsy, and his immense love for his children, grandchildren, extended family, and vast circle of friends. Though he modestly claimed writing did not come naturally to him, he was a reliable and valued contributor to The Alumni Pinion staff. His presence on the Alumni Association board has been greatly missed since his resignation. To continue his legacy of support, he published his autobiography titled ‘Mr. Pride & Unity,’ inviting family and friends to donate $25 per book to benefit the Hall of Honor program.”
