𝐄𝐗𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐀𝐓 𝐍𝐘𝐀𝐌𝐔𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐀 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐔𝐄𝐋 𝐋𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐒 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍- 𝐅𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒!

It has been an action-packed few weeks since we started work on the Samuel Leeds Foundation's generous sponsorship of our Phase 2 rehabilitation project. We are delighted to share this progress update with our incredible community and all our supporters. The wheels are turning, and the transformation is well underway!
Here is a breakdown of what has been achieved to date:

𝟏. 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐎𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠):
Our brickmaking team has been working tirelessly! We are happy to report that 𝟒𝟓,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬 have already been moulded out of the estimated 80,000 required for the project. These bricks are now at the crucial 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞, ensuring they gain the strength needed for durable construction. Brick moulding continues as we push towards our target.

𝟐. 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝):
We are pleased to announce that the 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫-𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞! Our carpenters have moved in and are currently working on the roof, bringing us closer to having a fully functional and weather-proof learning space for our learners.

𝟑. 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐅𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝):
The installation of the 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝! This is a major milestone that significantly enhances the safety and security of our learners, staff, and school assets. We now have a protected environment conducive to learning.

None of this would be possible without the extraordinary dedication of the Nyamutora community. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the selfless contribution of our parents, guardians, and residents who have been actively involved in 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞.Your labour of love is the foundation upon which this project stands.

Special recognition goes to our 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 (𝐦𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐛𝐡𝐮𝐤𝐮) , whose exceptional leadership and mobilization efforts have brought the community together in this crucial work. Your guidance has ensured that we harness our collective strength for the benefit of our children.

𝐍𝐲𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐥

We are thrilled to announce the successful launch of 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝟐 of our school rehabilitation and development project, made possible through the generous funding from the 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

However, while the funding covers the major infrastructure, we all know that the 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞. When we submitted our proposal, we knew that certain essentials—like pit sand, river sand, gravel, and water—weren't in the budget. We took a leap of faith, trusting that our community would rise to the occasion.

And rise you did! 🙌🏽

On 19 June 2024 the Project Chairperson, Mr. Nxele, in the company of the Headmistress, held a crucial meeting with our respected Village Heads (Ma Sabhuku). He implored them to champion the cause of community participation, and their response was nothing short of phenomenal.

Village by village, the call to action was answered:
✅ 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Community members turned up in full force to clear and prepare the ground where the new School Security Fence now stands.
✅ 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: Our men mobilized in impressive numbers, heading to the river beds to harvest the much-needed river sand and pit sand.
✅ 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: We are incredibly grateful to Mr. Nxele who, in a gracious gesture of leadership, provided transport to haul all this material to the school site.

This is the spirit of Ubuntu at its finest! 🤝

Because of your hard work and sacrifice, the foundation of Phase 2 is already stronger than we ever imagined. We have set the bar high, and we know that we can keep this momentum going.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce a monumental milestone in our journey to provide quality education for the children of Nyamutora Primary School. Following a successful assessment visit to Zimbabwe in October 2025, the 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 has officially agreed to sponsor 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝟐 of our school rehabilitation and development project!

𝐀 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐙𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐰𝐞

As many of you know, the Samuel Leeds Foundation has a rich history of charitable work across Zambia and Uganda. We are incredibly honoured to share that this marks the 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 the Foundation is extending its life-changing support to Zimbabwe. It is a profound privilege that Nyamutora Primary School has been chosen as the inaugural project site for their mission in our country.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠

On the 13th of October 2025, Samuel Leeds Foundation visited Nyamutora Primary School to assess the needs of our school firsthand. Following that assessment, the Foundation made the generous decision to support our development projects. Their commitment is a testament to the urgent need for safe, conducive learning environments for our learners.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥
Following the Foundation's announcement, our Steering Committee, led by our dedicated Chairman, Mr. Mike Nxele, wasted no time in submitting a comprehensive proposal for support. We are ecstatic to report that 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬, 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠:

• 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 to the existing Classroom Blocks and the Administration Block.
• 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 around the school premises to ensure the safety of our children.
• 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 to provide a reliable source of clean water for the entire school.
• 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐬 for both students and staff.
• 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 and a 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 to enhance learning.

We are pleased to announce that work has already commenced on some of these critical areas!

The fun at the school was not the end of the visit of the SLF delegation. The Nxele family had, by prior arrangement, agreed to host the delegation for Lunch (which later turned to dinner due to time overruns).It turned to be a gathering not just of and for a meal, but one of fun, with singing and dancing by the delegates, and curiosity surrounding the African round kitchens being demystified.
This was a mission not just of exploration and discovery, but more importantly of building friendships and bonding beyond cultures.

𝐍𝐲𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

The day of 13 October is a day most people in the community of Nyamutora may never forget for the rest of their lives. They were host to a 16 strong delegation from the UK based Samuel Leeds Foundation. The delegation, which was led by Tony Crook, came to assess the needs of the school in terms of its rehabilitation and development efforts.
Samuel Leeds Foundation( https://www.samuelleedsfoundation.org/ ) is not new to development support. It has done work in Zambia and Uganda, mainly in the area of education and health. This is however their first visit to Zimbabwe and their mission has been exploratory.
Discussions with Samuel Leeds have been ongoing for some time, although it was being kept under wraps until a final confirmation of the visit and the dates was made.
The arrival of the delegation was met with a thunderous reception from the entire community, as the pictures and videos in the gallery will testify.
The delegation had a closed-door meeting with the local leadership and the school administration. Head Mistress, Ms. Manyika, and the Chairman Mr. Nxele explained the state of the school, the challenges we are facing, and the aspirations that we have for the school. The delegation was then taken on a tour of the school to highlight the gravity of the infrastructural degradation that the school faces.
The delegation ended their visit to the school with entertainment provided by a dance troupe that was arranged by the school. The local Chief, Chief Mzilawenpi, presented traditional gifts to Mr. Samuel Leeds (who was not on the trip), and Mr. Tony Crook.
So much preparation went into this visit such that there were T-sh*ts made for all the Teachers, and T shirts made for the Traditional dancers that provided the entertainment.
