πŸ‘ΆπŸ’› A Gentle Reminder to Our Nyatsie Family

As our Nyatsie Baby competition continues to grow, we would like to thank every parent who has trusted us with their beautiful babies and precious memories.

We understand that competitions come with excitement, hope, and sometimes disappointment.

However, we would like to remind all participants that by entering the competition and posting photos using the competition requirements, you are participating in a public campaign designed to celebrate babies, families, and the Nyatsie community.

Not every baby can win a title each month, but every baby remains a valued part of the Nyatsie family. πŸ’›

We kindly encourage parents to enter in the spirit of fun, celebration, and community.

Winning is wonderful, but being part of a movement that celebrates our children is even more special.

Thank you for helping us build something beautiful.

πŸ‘ΆπŸ’› Every baby is a blessing. πŸ‘‘ Every baby matters. 🌟 Every baby has another chance to shine.

With love,

The Nyatsie Team

My Grandfather used to say Zvidhakwa Zvine rudo kudarika vatendi.
I understand that now.

Let me say something uncomfortable.

Some of the places that should offer the most compassion are often the places where parents of children with disabilities experience the most pain.

The church.

And public hospitals.

Not because of the buildings.

Because of the people.

I have watched mothers walk into church carrying children with Down syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and other disabilities only to be met with stares.

The child makes noise.

People stare.

The child moves differently.

People stare.

The child has a meltdown.

People stare.

The child flaps, vocalizes, struggles to sit still, or needs support.

People stare.

Then come the whispers.

"What happened?"

"What did the parents do?"

"Maybe there is a curse."

"Maybe they sinned."

"Maybe they should try this prophet."

"Maybe they should try this deliverance."

Stop.

Just stop.

A child is not a sermon illustration.

A child is not evidence in your spiritual court case.

A child is a child.

And if your first response to disability is judgement instead of compassion, then perhaps the disability is not in the child.

Perhaps it is in the heart that refuses to love.

I have seen mothers leave church in tears.

I have seen parents stop attending altogether.

Not because God rejected them.

Because people did.

Then we wonder why families disappear.

We ask, "Where have they gone?"

You pushed them away.

The same happens in some public hospitals.

Parents already arrive exhausted.

They are carrying fear, uncertainty, financial burdens, therapy schedules and sleepless nights.

Then someone speaks carelessly.

A nurse.

A clerk.

A stranger in the queue.

A comment.

A laugh.

A label.

A prediction about what the child will never become.

As if a diagnosis removes a person's dignity.

Let me tell you something.

No doctor is God.

No pastor is God.

No church elder is God.

No stranger in a waiting room is God.

You do not get to decide the worth of a child.

You do not get to decide their future.

You do not get to decide whether they belong.

Because they already do.

The measure of a society is not how it treats the strong.

It is how it treats the vulnerable.

The measure of a church is not how loudly it worships.

It is whether a mother carrying a disabled child feels welcomed when she walks through the door.

The measure of healthcare is not how many patients pass through a building.

It is whether every patient leaves with their dignity intact.

To every parent reading this:

Your child is not a punishment.

Your child is not a mistake.

Your child does not need permission to exist in public spaces.

Take them to church.

Take them to school.

Take them to the park.

Take them to the shops.

Take them everywhere.

Let the world learn.

Let the world adjust.

Let the world become kinder.

Because our children are not the ones who need to hide.

The world needs to learn how to embrace them.
