Rising Leaders Take the Torch at Ine Junior School Prefects Investiture Ceremony
SUNNINGDALE, JUNE 27 – In a moving and colorfully choreographed ceremony, Ine Junior School celebrated the official investiture of its new crop of student leaders on June 27, during an event marked by tradition, inspiration, and celebration.
The Investiture Ceremony, held at the school grounds, saw 19 young leaders formally taking up their roles as prefects for the academic year. Dressed sharply in their new blazers and proudly receiving their badges, the students pledged their commitment to service, discipline, and leadership in front of an enthusiastic audience of teachers, parents, and dignitaries.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic candle lighting and oath-taking segment, where each prefect vowed to uphold the school’s values. The flickering candles, passed from one leader to another, served as a powerful metaphor for responsibility being passed from one generation to the next.
The Guest of Honor, Mr. Julius, who represented the District School Inspectorate under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, delivered an encouraging keynote address. He commended the school for nurturing leadership at a tender age, emphasizing the importance of character and accountability in nation-building.
Also gracing the occasion was the renowned School Prefects Coach, Chivandire Leariey Morris, who also played a pivotal role behind the scenes — he was the one who trained the newly appointed prefects. Mr. Chivandire, known across the educational circuit for his dynamic leadership coaching, reminded the prefects that “great leaders are not born, but made through dedication, empathy, and consistent hard work.”
Among the special guests were Mrs. Jena and several educators from Sunningdale 1 Primary School, showcasing strong inter-school camaraderie. Hosting the event with visible pride were Ine Junior School’s Director, Mr. Kapfudzaruva, and the school’s Principal, Mrs. Kapfudzaruva, who both lauded the students’ achievements and reaffirmed the school’s mission to produce responsible future citizens.
The celebration was not without flair and festivity. Music filled the air as students showcased their talents in gymnastics routines, while the school's teachers wowed the audience with mesmerizing dances—a delightful reminder of the vibrant culture within the school community.
Parents of the prefects, visibly moved and proud, watched their children shine on stage—a culmination of effort, guidance, and hope.
One of the newly invested prefects, shared her excitement: “Wearing this blazer means so much to me. I feel trusted, and I’m ready to lead by example and help my fellow learners succeed.”
As the sun set on this memorable day, it was clear that the future of Ine Junior School is in capable hands. With blazers on their shoulders and candles once lit in their hands, the new prefects are ready to lead with courage, humility, and heart.
