Story: “The Chalk Trick”
One morning, the students decided to play a prank on their math teacher. They rubbed the chalkboard eraser with white powder so that when the teacher used it, the dust would explode everywhere.
The teacher entered, smiled at the unusually quiet class, and walked to the board. As he picked up the eraser, everyone watched eagerly.
Instead of writing on the board, he turned around and said,
“Before we start today’s lesson, I have a surprise quiz.”
He wrote:
SURPRISE TEST – 10 MIN, 25 MARKS
Q1. Calculate how many seconds it took you all to set up this prank. (5 Marks)
Q2. Estimate how far the chalk dust would spread if I hadn’t known about it. (5 Marks)
Q3. List all students involved, their individual roles, and the motive behind their experiment. (15 Marks)
He then picked up a clean board duster from his drawer and added with a grin,
“Always remember — math teachers calculate everything in advance.” 😄

The teacher looked around calmly, adjusted his glasses, and wrote on the whiteboard:

Q1. Estimate the average walking speed of a skeleton with no muscles. (2 Marks)
Q2. State the possible direction the skeleton went, using evidence from the muddy footprints on the floor. (5 Marks)
Q3. Identify the students who assisted in the skeletal escape, the tools they used, and provide a detailed explanation of their scientific motivation. (33 Marks)
