School Cleanup Initiative at Hatfield Elite Academy

Hatfield Elite Academy recently hosted a successful school cleanup initiative conducted in line with the environmental sustainability and community engagement programs of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in Zimbabwe. The event was a remarkable demonstration of the school’s commitment to promoting responsible environmental practices and fostering a culture of cleanliness among learners.

The cleanup exercise brought together both students and teachers, who worked side by side to improve the cleanliness of the school environment and its surroundings. Learners enthusiastically participated in collecting litter across the school grounds and along Glamis Road. Their active involvement highlighted the importance of environmental stewardship and community responsibility from an early age.

Teachers also played a significant role in guiding and supporting the learners throughout the exercise. Their participation not only ensured the smooth coordination of activities but also reinforced the message that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility within the school community.

The initiative resulted in a visibly cleaner and more pleasant learning environment, creating a space that is both healthier and more conducive to teaching and learning. Beyond the immediate impact, the activity also served as an educational experience, helping students appreciate the value of environmental conservation and civic duty.

Hatfield Elite Academy has committed to making the cleanup exercise a monthly activity, with the long-term vision of expanding it into a localized community cleanup campaign. By consistently engaging learners and staff in such initiatives, the school aims to instill lasting habits of environmental care while encouraging the wider community to take part in keeping their surroundings clean.

What a thunderous afternoon at Hatfield Elite Academy!

Our inter-house competition — the unforgettable Clash of the Horns — brought together not only our spirited learners but also our ever-supportive parents, who filled the grounds with cheers, pride, and anticipation. The contest between Cheeta House and Rhino House was nothing short of electric.

Cheeta House arrived in magnificent style — a sea of bold red uniforms, confidence radiating from every corner. They believed their striking appearance and fiery energy would secure victory. And indeed, they competed with passion and flair.

But victory is not stitched into fabric, nor painted in bright colors.

Rhino House, steady and determined, proved that strength lies beyond outward display. With resilience, teamwork, discipline, and focus, they charged forward and claimed the win — much to the disbelief of their red-clad rivals.

Yet beyond trophies and triumphs lies a deeper lesson.

At Hatfield Elite Academy, we are committed to educating the whole person. Competitions like these are not merely about winning or losing; they are living classrooms. They teach perseverance in disappointment, humility in victory, courage in effort, and respect in rivalry. They shape character as much as they sharpen skill.

Cheeta House learned that confidence must be matched with preparation and unity.
Rhino House demonstrated that quiet determination often outperforms loud display.
And all our learners experienced firsthand the values of sportsmanship, resilience, and community.
