Mhondoro Mubaira:

An Area of Unprecedented Growth.

Something extraordinary is happening in Mhondoro Mubaira and nearby areas. The swift development of buildings and distinct structures is transforming the region. The impact is evident, and Mhondoro Mubaira will emerge transformed. North, South, East and West of Mubaira CBD have witnessed rapid changes that are worth mentioning.
In the past, we highlighted the emergence of the first business structure in Mubaira, led by Bhola's initiative, which facilitated further construction. Subsequently, an array of establishments such as schools, health centers, banks, shops, hardware stores, bottle stores, flea markets, and barber shops rapidly developed. Regrettably, surrounding villages including Mubaiwa, Chipanga, Mupande, and Muponda have been and are still losing land to the influx of new residents.
The village of Mubaiwa is characterized by a linear settlement with a lush forest that spans from Nyangwene School to the Shambavaroyi tributary and continues downstream to Chirozva (Nyangwene River), extending to the bridge between Mubaira CBD and Muponda village. This area was once a thriving forest ecosystem hosting a wide variety of tree species such as Misasa, Mitondo, Mishava, Mikarati, Mitamba, Migwadhi, Minhengeni, Mitunduru, Migodo, and Misekesa. During our time as primary school students at Nyangwene School, the forest played a crucial role in supplementing our diet with its abundant fruit resources. Unfortunately, the forest is now facing imminent threat due to being designated for residential and commercial projects, which will result in the loss of pastureland for the villagers of Mubaiwa.The video below shows church structures that emerged near the once sacred Chirozva.
