🩺✨ HEALTH EMPHASIS WEEK — DAY 5 & CLOSING SESSION ✨🩺
Today marked the final day of our Health Emphasis Week at Cygnet Private College, with the focus turning to an equally important aspect of wellbeing — Spiritual Health — presented by Elder Mariana. 🙏💙
The session reminded students that true wellness goes beyond physical health and includes the mind, body, and spirit working together in harmony. Learners explored the importance of having purpose, faith, inner peace, and a daily connection with God in achieving genuine happiness and balanced living.
Drawing from Romans 8:28, students were encouraged to trust God’s purpose for their lives and to develop habits of daily prayer, devotion, and spiritual reflection.
A powerful message throughout the presentation was that caring for one’s spiritual life strengthens every other area of life — emotionally, mentally, and physically.
As we conclude this impactful Health Emphasis Week under the theme “A Stitch in Time…”, we are reminded that the healthy choices, habits, and values we build today shape the leaders we become tomorrow.
We sincerely thank all our presenters, staff, and students who participated throughout the week and made the programme meaningful and inspiring. 💙

🩺✨ HEALTH EMPHASIS WEEK — DAY 4 HIGHLIGHTS✨🩺
Day 4 of our Health Emphasis Week focused on an important and relevant topic for young people today: “Addiction and the Brain”, presented by Dr. Saurombe.
Students learned how addiction develops and how repeated exposure to harmful substances and habits can affect the brain over time. The session explained how addiction is not simply a bad habit, but a complex condition that changes the brain’s reward system through the release of dopamine, the chemical linked to pleasure and satisfaction.
Learners also explored:
🧠 How addiction affects decision-making
⚠️ The dangers of constant exposure to harmful substances and behaviours
💭 How dependency can develop gradually over time
💙 The importance of self-control and healthy coping mechanisms
A key message from the presentation was that the choices we make early in life can greatly influence our future wellbeing.
Through open discussion and learning, students were encouraged to make wise decisions, protect their mental health, and build habits that support a healthy and purposeful future.💙

🩺✨HEALTH EMPHASIS WEEK — DAY 3 HIGHLIGHTS✨🩺
Wednesday’s Health Emphasis Week session got students up and moving with an energetic exercise session led by Coach Vee.
As part of our Wednesday Sports Day activities, learners were encouraged to make exercise a consistent lifestyle habit and not just something done once a week. Through practical workouts and fun physical activities, students were reminded that staying active today helps build a healthier future tomorrow. 💪🏃♂️
Coach Vee also encouraged learners to take advantage of simple opportunities to exercise daily, including using the hill at the school entrance to build endurance and fitness.
The session reinforced an important message under our theme
“A Stitch in Time…”:
🌱 Small healthy habits started early can make a big difference in the future.💙

🩺✨ HEALTH EMPHASIS WEEK — DAY 2 HIGHLIGHTS ✨🩺
Day 2 of our Health Emphasis Week continued with another impactful and practical presentation led by Takudzwa, reminding students that success in life begins with how well we take care of ourselves.
Under the continuing theme “A Stitch in Time…”, learners explored the powerful connection between sleep, nutrition, hydration, mental focus, and overall wellbeing. Students were encouraged to view their bodies as the “vehicle” that carries them through life, making self-care not a luxury, but a necessity.
One of the major highlights of the session focused on the importance of quality sleep and how it directly affects concentration, memory, emotional balance, decision-making, and academic performance. Learners discovered how lack of sleep increases harmful waste products in the brain known as beta amyloids, while also disrupting important hormones responsible for hunger and fullness.
The discussion also addressed how excessive exposure to blue light from phones before bedtime interferes with melatonin production, making it harder to achieve proper rest and healthy sleep cycles.
Students further learnt that:
💧 Proper hydration improves focus and brain function
🍎 Food affects both mood and mental performance
🧠 Healthy habits improve memory, concentration, and emotional wellbeing
😴 Good sleep routines are essential for growth and productivity
📈 Small daily improvements can create life-changing results over time
A powerful takeaway from the presentation was the reminder that “making a change in just 1% is important.” Small intentional habits practiced consistently can shape a healthier and more successful future.
We appreciate Takudzwa for delivering such a relatable and thought-provoking session that challenged our learners to become more intentional about their everyday choices.
At Cygnet Private College, we continue to promote holistic growth by nurturing healthy minds, healthy bodies, and future-ready leaders. 💙
