The Ministry of Local Government wishes to inform all students that the advertisement for vacant hostel rooms has officially been published.

Students are encouraged to apply for the room of their choice, subject to availability and the prescribed application guidelines.

Please note that the list of vacant rooms has been posted on the notice boards at the respective hostels for your reference. A soft copy of the advertisement will also be shared through the official student communication platforms shortly.

The Ministry further appeals to all students not to erase, alter, or tamper with the names of rooms they have applied for. Kindly leave the room listings intact to allow other students equal access to view and apply for the available rooms. Let us all act responsibly and uphold fairness throughout the application process.

All eligible students, whether on HELSB sponsorship or self-sponsorship, are encouraged to submit their applications within the stipulated period.

MINISTRY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT
STUDENT UPDATE

The Ministry of Local Government wishes to update the student community following today's engagement with the Accommodation Office regarding accommodation applications, the selection process, and students' concerns.

We are pleased to inform you that all concerns raised by students regarding accommodation applications and the selection process were formally submitted and have been taken into consideration by the Accommodation Office. The Ministry has been assured that the accommodation allocation process will continue to be transparent, fair, and smooth.

Students are further informed that the official accommodation application advert will be published very soon. We therefore encourage all students, whether sponsored by the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB) or self-sponsored, to apply for accommodation once the advert is released and ensure they follow the application guidelines.

With regard to the storage of students' belongings during the academic break, discussions are still ongoing. As such, the Ministry is unable to provide a definitive update at this time. Further communication will be issued once an official position has been reached.

The Ministry remains committed to representing the interests of the student community and will continue to provide timely updates as more information becomes available.

On 2nd July 2026, I had the distinct honour of being officially sworn in as Minister of Local Government for the Kwame Nkrumah University students union -Kwanusu . This inauguration represents more than the assumption of office it is a solemn commitment to serve with integrity, accountability, and purpose. I am deeply grateful to every student who entrusted me with this responsibility. My ministry will prioritize inclusive leadership, effective representation, transparency, and meaningful engagement with the student body. Together, we will strengthen student governance, foster unity, and deliver lasting impact. The time for promises has passed; the time for dedicated service and measurable results has begun.

Celebrating World Environment Day: A Call to Action for Every Young Person

Today, as we celebrate World Environment Day, we are reminded of the priceless gift that nature has given us. The environment provides us with clean air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat, and the resources that sustain our daily lives. Yet, despite all that it offers, we often neglect and damage it through our actions.

As young people, we have a responsibility to become champions of environmental protection. The future of our communities, our nation, and our planet depends on the choices we make today. Whether it is planting trees, reducing waste, promoting sustainable practices, or educating others about environmental conservation, every small action makes a difference.

The environment has given us so much; now it is our turn to give back. Let us move beyond words and take meaningful action to protect our forests, wildlife, water sources, and natural ecosystems. Together, we can build cleaner, greener, and more sustainable communities for future generations.

On this World Environment Day, I encourage all fellow youths to be part of the solution. Let us unite in caring for our environment and preserving the beauty and resources that support life on Earth.

A healthy environment is not just a responsibility—it is a legacy we must protect and pass on.
