WEEK 12: EXCELLENCE OVER EXCUSES

Stop explaining. Start excelling.

Good morning, Bertha School family!

This week, we are challenging our pupils (and ourselves!) to drop every excuse and choose excellence instead.

It's easier to say:

· "I didn't have time."
· "It was too hard."
· "Everyone else did the same."

But at Bertha School, we don't settle for easy. We settle for excellence.

Excuses hold us back.
Excellence moves us forward.
And with God's help, we can do all things not perfectly, but with heart, effort, and purpose.

📖 OUR SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR THE WEEK:

✨ Colossians 3:23 – "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."

✨ Proverbs 3:23 – "Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble."

✨ Luke 9:62 – "Jesus replied, 'No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.'"

✨ 2 Timothy 2:15 – "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."

✨ Proverbs 21:5 – "The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty."

WHAT WE WILL TEACH OUR CHILDREN THIS WEEK:

✅ That excuses are just walls we build to protect our comfort zone
✅ That excellence is a choice – made daily, not occasionally
✅ That God deserves our very best, not our leftovers
✅ That it's never too late to start doing things the right way
✅ That consistency beats talent every single time

Parents, this final stretch of the term is crucial. Please encourage your child to:

· 📚 Finish assignments with pride and care
· 🙏 Pray for focus and strength
· ⏰ Manage time wisely – no procrastination
· 💬 Speak with kindness and respect, even when tired
· 🧹 Do everything – even small tasks – with excellence

And remember: Your children are watching you. When you show them that excellence is a lifestyle, they will follow. 👀

Let's finish Week 12 with no regrets – only excellence!

REST IN PEACE, MRS. CHRICENSIAH MUTINTA MOONGA 🕊️

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved parent, Mrs. Chricensiah Mutinta Moonga, mother to Changu Moonga of Grade 2B.

Mrs. Moonga passed on in the early hours of today, Sunday 26th July 2026, after a brave battle with cancer. 💔

🙏 OUR HEARTS MOURN WITH THE MOONGA FAMILY

As a school, we are heartbroken.💔

Mrs. Moonga was not just a parent, she was part of our Bertha School family.

Her presence, her support, and her love for Changu will never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences to:

· Changu Moonga (G2B) and the entire Moonga family
· All relatives, friends, and loved ones affected by this loss

📖
In this time of grief, we hold onto God's promises:

Psalm 34:18 – "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Matthew 5:4 – "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."

Revelation 21:4 – "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

John 11:25-26 – "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die."

🤍 WE STAND WITH THE MOONGA FAMILY

We ask our entire Bertha School community to keep the Moonga family in your prayers for strength, peace, and comfort during this difficult time.

Changu, you are not alone. Your Bertha School family is here for you. 🙏

WEEK 11: RISE ABOVE AVERAGE

Ordinary is not your destiny. Excellence is.

Good morning, Bertha School family!

This week, we are challenging our pupils (and ourselves!) to go beyond the bare minimum in our studies, our character, our faith, and our service to others.

God did not create us to be ordinary.

He created us to shine, excel, and stand out, not for our own glory, but for His.

At Bertha School, we don't just aim to pass.

We aim to excel. We don't just do our best, we ask God for His best through us.

📖 OUR SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR THE WEEK:

Daniel 1:20 – "In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom."

Colossians 3:23 – "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."

Proverbs 22:29 – "Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank."

Philippians 1:10 – "So that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ."

2 Timothy 2:10 – "Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory."

WHAT WE WILL TEACH OUR CHILDREN THIS WEEK:

✅ That average is not their ceiling; it's just their starting point
✅ To take pride in their work, no matter how small
✅ To strive for excellence in their schoolwork, behavior, and relationships
✅ That excellence is a habit, not an accident
✅ To do everything as unto the Lord with heart and purpose

💡 PARENTS, LET'S RISE TOGETHER!

At home, encourage your child to:

· Go beyond the homework – read extra, ask questions, be curious
· Do chores with excellence not just "done" but "well done"
· Speak with kindness and purpose, words that build, not break
· 🙏 Pray for God's strength to rise above mediocrity

And remember, you are their first example.

When they see you strive for excellence, they will too. 👀

Let's make this week one of excellence, effort, and elevation! 🙌🏾

🍋 A LITTLE LEMON. A LOT OF LOVE. 💛

At Bertha School, we don't just feed our learners, we care for their health too.

With the cold season upon us and coughs and flu making their rounds, we've added something special to our daily routine: fresh lemons! 🍋

Rich in Vitamin C, lemons help:
✅ Boost immunity
✅ Fight off colds and flu
✅ Keep our pupils strong and healthy
✅ Put a bright (and sometimes sour!) smile on their faces! 😄

We captured some beautiful moments of our learners receiving and enjoying their lemons and the faces say it ALL!😅

Some are loving it. Some are making the most adorable sour faces.

💡 TO OUR PARENTS:

At home, we encourage you to continue giving your children warm drinks, fruits, and plenty of rest.

Together, we can keep them healthy and happy this cold season. 🤗
