Education Ministry Trains 126 Procurement Officers

The Ministry of Education has trained 126 procurement officers who will spearhead the streamlining of procurement processes from Lusaka to all districts.

Head of Procurement Aphet Pongolani said the initiative is designed to ensure that procurements in the education sector are treated as one unified system. He explained that the officers, recently employed under the Ministry, are expected to enhance efficiency and accountability in procurement across all 116 districts nationwide.

Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS) President Daniel Kabamba described the move as a reflection of Government’s intention to ensure effectiveness and ownership in the Ministry’s procurement processes.

Meanwhile, ZIPS Procurement Consultant and Founder Misheck Kaoma emphasized the importance of employing procurement experts to further strengthen the system.
