𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡: 𝟕 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐓𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐒

1. Misunderstanding: Hiring a tutor is enough.
Reality: The student must put in daily effort. Tutor opens the door; student walks through.
2. Misunderstanding: Every session should show improvement.
Reality: Progress has flat weeks, then sudden jumps. No gain for three sessions can still lead to a breakthrough.
3. Misunderstanding: Can do it with tutor = can do it alone tomorrow.
Reality: Scaffolding fades slowly. Next day solo failure is normal, not regression.
4. Misunderstanding: One good session raises test scores by morning.
Reality: Learning needs spaced repetition and sleep. Cramming fades, slow review lasts.
5. Misunderstanding: Forgetting next day means tutoring failed.
Reality: Forgetting is retrieval practice beginning. Struggling to recall strengthens memory.
6. Misunderstanding: Smart kids don't need repetition.
Reality: Repetition builds durable connections. Even honor students need multiple exposures.
7. The 100-Session Rule: One session fixes nothing.
Reality: One hundred sessions with daily practice, sleep, and patience fix almost everything.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐌𝐲𝐭𝐡: 𝟕 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐒

1. Misunderstanding: One session fixes speech by morning.
2. Reality: Lasting change takes time ,motor learning needs sleep and repetition.
3. Sleep helps, but isn't enough: Multiple nights + hundreds of repetition build new patterns.
4. Old habits are strong: "Wabbit" for "rabbit" took thousands of tries to learn. Rewiring takes hundreds.
5. Next day "failure" is normal: The old error often returns. Expected, not a setback.
6. What can improve overnight ?Awareness, strategy recall, less frustration—not automatic accuracy.
7. The 100 Night Rule: Expecting overnight results sets you up for disappointment. Real speech change is slow, boring, and repetitive but it works. One night changes nothing one hundred nights change everything.
