📚✨ THIS IS HOW YOU GET THEM READING DURING THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!
The holidays are here, but that doesn’t mean learning has to stop! Here are 5 simple ways to keep your little ones reading without making it feel like schoolwork:
1️⃣ LET THEM CHOOSE THE BOOK 📖
Give them a few options and let them choose what they would like to read. When children have a choice, reading becomes more exciting and enjoyable. Try books of their favorite cartoon characters.
2️⃣ CREATE A SIMPLE READING ROUTINE ⏰
You don’t need hours of reading. Just 10–15 minutes a day can make a difference. Choose a time that works for your family and make it part of the daily routine.
3️⃣ MAKE READING INTERACTIVE 🎭
Ask questions, let them guess what happens next, act out characters, or ask them to retell the story in their own words. This helps build comprehension and confidence.
4️⃣ READ BEYOND BOOKS 🌍
Reading is everywhere! Encourage your child to read simple things around the house and outside—food labels, signs, shopping lists, menus, cards and even captions.
5️⃣ MAKE IT FUN, NOT A PUNISHMENT ❤️
The goal is not to pressure them. Read together, use funny voices, celebrate their efforts and let them discover that reading can be fun!
🌱 Remember, the holiday goal isn’t to give children more schoolwork. It’s to help them develop a love for reading that lasts beyond the classroom.
📚 Happy reading, little oaks!
