Celebrating God's Faithfulness.

Thirty-nine years ago today, on the 18th of April 1987, Muumbe and I stood before the late Reverend Simon Syabbamba and Reverend Mark Wirth and exchanged solemn vows of matrimony at Pilgrim Wesleyan Church - Shampande, in Choma, Zambia.
We were graciously supported by Professor Charles Michelo, who served as Chief Best Man, and Mrs. Lilian Mweetwa Michelo, who served as Maid of Honour. The Best Men were George Sikuleka and the late Alex Mbewe, while the Maids of Honour were Makondo Muzyamba Wana and Fenny Mweetwa. Our Matron was Mrs. Rachel Melhorn Phiri, and the flower girls were Kim Wirth and the late Matimba Miyoba - both of whom hold a tender place in our memory.
As we reflect on the journey that began that April morning, our hearts are overwhelmed with gratitude to God for His steadfast leading and abundant grace through every season - the joys, the sorrows, and the challenges that have shaped us into who we are today.
I remain forever grateful to Muumbe for choosing to spend her life with me - a young man from the Gwembe Valley, who came with little in the way of material or financial security, yet carried a deep love for her and an unwavering trust that God would faithfully provide for our home.
The words of Proverbs 18:22 resonate profoundly with our story: "He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favour from the Lord." Marrying Muumbe has indeed been one of God's greatest favours upon my life, and with the same faith that carried us through these thirty-nine years, blessed by five grown up children Lumba, Chile, Chipo, Lindila and Luyando with three grand children Nandipa, Palesa and Ziinde whom we love to the moon and back. We look forward with joyful anticipation to our 40th Wedding Anniversary on the 18th of April, 2027 - to the glory of God alone.
