This past Friday, we carried out the Cleanup Crime Down campaign in Kanyama in partnership with IPYG and HWPL. The activity focused not only on cleaning the environment, but also on promoting safety and reducing crime by encouraging community responsibility and unity.
As Evelyn Hone Environmental health Students we came together to make a visible difference, showing that a clean environment can help build a safer and more peaceful community. We were also honored to have our efforts featured on ZNBC, highlighting the impact of youth-led initiatives.
This is just the beginning—together, we will continue working towards a cleaner, safer, and more united society.

Field Report On 10th April 2026 For Snail Hunting At Mutembe Dam for Schistosomiasis.
Schistosomiasis is a parasitic disease caused by trematode worms of the genus Schistosomiasis. The disease is transmitted through freshwater snails, which act as intermediate hosts. Common snail genera involved include Bulinus for urinary schistosomiasis and Biomphalaria for intestinal schistosomiasis.
The purpose of this survey was to identify and collect freshwater snails from a dam to assess the potential risk of schistosomiasis transmission.
And So:
We collected freshwater snails from the dam
We identified snail species present
We determined the presence of schistosome infection in snails
We assessed environmental conditions that support snail breeding
