A CHOSEN BRIDE FOR THE PRINCE

A Heart Touching Story.

Mila's father died when she was a very young girl, and her poor mother was left to care for her. Her mother had to go through a lot of hardships and difficulties to raise her, and there were times she had to beg people for money. When it rained, their old house would be full of water on the floor.

In spite of their difficulties, Mila's mother would always tell her,
"A time will come when you will get anything you want in life. Believe me, I will do whatever it takes to make that happen."

The years went by and Mila grew up into a rare beauty. She had a pleasant face with a good smile, and poverty couldn't hide her beauty.

At a certain time, the crown prince of the village said he wanted a beauty for his bride. With that, all the beautiful young girls in the village were invited, so that the prince could select a bride for himself. Mila was among the young girls that were present at the palace.

As all the beautiful girls stood before the prince, he examined each of them. After he examined them, he whispered into the ears of his servant,
"Now I am confused whom to chose, all are prettier than each other. Call the powerful seer immediately! Tell her to get here as soon as possible!"

The servant asked,
"What will the seer make of this, His Royal Highness?"

The prince responded,
"Since she can see into the future and say what will happen, she can decide who is the most suitable bride for me."

The servant bowed and left the palace immediately. An hour later, he returned with the powerful seer. The woman's face was covered with a black veil, and she uttered some mystic incantations, proving her prowess. Then suddenly, she pointed at Mila, and said to the prince,

"Prince of the land, she is the perfect wife for you. I have seen into her heart and it is as pure as that of a little child. Her intentions are clear and her good faith not in doubt. She would make a good princess and would bear you many boys. Yes, her womb is filled with male children who will one day ascend the throne!"

Upon hearing that, the prince smiled at Mila who was filled with surprise and delight. He held her hand, kissed her and walked her down to a seat. It seemed to be the happiest moment of his life.

Shortly, as the seer was about to leave the palace, she told the prince that she wished to talk to his new bride in private, and that she had an important message for her.

The seer took Mila to a private room nearby. And then, what happened next, shocked Mila to her bone. The seer uncovered her face and Mila discovered she was her mother. For a moment, she could not catch her breath.

"Mother?" she called with a trembling voice.

Her mother whispered,
"Hush, keep it low, my child. This is how it happened... when I found out that the prince needed the seer immediately, I quickly disguised myself as her and I made sure to perform her role effectively. It was the only thing I had to do to make sure you marry the prince. Remember what I always told you; 'a time will come when you will get anything you want in life, I will make sure it happens'. I have made it happen, my child. Please, be a good wife to the prince and may the gods bless your union." THE END

Never underestimate a mother. She can do anything for her child. She would go to lengths you would never imagine.
