UNZA AGREEA PROUD TO SUPPORT THE SUCCESS OF THE 2026 EGYD CAREER FAIR

UNZA AGREEA was honoured to be part of the 2026 Educating Girls and Youth for Development Career Fair, held under the inspiring theme, “Building Careers That Build Zambia.”

The career fair brought together young people, professionals, development partners, and industry leaders to discuss career pathways, skills development, entrepreneurship, and opportunities in the evolving world of work. The theme underscored the importance of equipping young people with the knowledge, practical skills, and networks needed to build meaningful careers while contributing to Zambia’s development.

UNZA AGREEA was privileged to facilitate the success of the event by serving in various capacities, including partner care, ushering, guest coordination, and general event support, among other responsibilities. It was a fulfilling experience to contribute to an initiative dedicated to empowering Zambia’s youth.

We commend Educating Girls and Youth for Development (EGYD) for creating a platform that nurtures young talent, unlocks potential, and provides young people with the opportunity to engage with key industry stakeholders, explore career opportunities, and gain valuable insights for their personal and professional growth.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the entire EGYD team for entrusting UNZA AGREEA with the opportunity to contribute to the success of this remarkable event. A special thank you goes to Genius Mapalo Mukuka , Co-Founder of EGYD, for her visionary leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to creating opportunities that inspire and empower young people across Zambia.

The Binance Campus and Community Connection brought together students from various institutions including the University of Zambia (UNZA), NIPA, ZICAS, and Levy Mwanawasa Medical University, among others.
The event served as a platform for engagement around digital finance and blockchain innovation, drawing a diverse and enthusiastic student audience.

UNZA AGREEA (University of Zambia Agricultural Economics and Extension Association) was proud to be part of this event. Rather than being confined to a single role, AGREEA members made themselves available wherever they were needed stepping in to fill gaps, support coordination, and ensure the event ran smoothly. Our presence was felt across various aspects of the event.
Binance is a global cryptocurrency exchange platform that facilitates digital asset trading, payments, and various blockchain-based financial services. The event provided valuable insight into the broader role of digital finance and blockchain ecosystems in today’s economy.

📝Key points noted from the event included:

•Transactions involve two parties engaging in value exchange within a digital or financial system.
•The relationship between risk and return, where higher potential rewards often come with greater levels of risk.
• Income and earning opportunities available within digital financial systems and emerging markets.
• The importance of diversification in managing financial exposure and reducing overall risk.

The event also highlighted the role of Binance Africa and BWCN in supporting blockchain awareness and community engagement across the region.

UNZA AGREEA appreciates the opportunity to have been part of this engagement and recognizes the value of such platforms in exposing members to real-world financial and technological discussions.

THE FARMER’S CHOICE AWARDS (FCA) EXPO AFRICA🌿

Students from the university of Zambia school of Agriculture and a few members from The The Agricultural Economics And Extension Association(Unza Agreea) were privileged to take part in the FCA awards and summit that took place from the 22nd to the 24th of April 2026

The FCA Africa Expo & Awards is a dynamic agribusiness gathering where companies, farmers, and experts come together to showcase agricultural products like machinery, seeds, and technology, while also hosting panel discussions and summits on modern farming practices, climate-smart agriculture, and investment opportunities. Attendees network, form business partnerships, and learn from industry leaders, and the event also features the Farmers Choice Awards, which recognize outstanding contributions and innovation in the agricultural sector across Africa.

📈Being part of such an outstanding event For us as students was such a valuable opportunity to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world agriculture. It allowed us to see modern farming technologies, interact with industry professionals, and gain insights into current trends like agribusiness, innovation, and climate-smart practices.

A huge thank you goes to the organizers of the event as well as AGRI-COOP news for making the Unza school of agriculture sciences a part of the expo.
We eagerly look forward to more voluntary opportunities such as this in the near future🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

While at the AgriTech Expo, we visited the NATSAVE stand to better understand its role in supporting farmers. We noted its long-standing impact across multiple sectors and its provision of free financial advisory services, emphasizing proper financial management to help farmers use their resources effectively.

We also explored the SAFF credit facility, including how it is accessed and managed. Loan allocation is based on a farmer’s production capacity rather than a first-come, first-served basis, with the goal of promoting food security and reducing hunger. In assessing applications, NATSAVE applies the 5Cs of credit: Character, Cash Flow, Conditions, Collateral, and Creditworthiness, alongside factors like loan type and available security.

We further highlighted key concerns around SAFF, particularly issues of accessibility and fairness, as well as the role of farmer adoption behavior especially the gap between early adopters and laggards.

Overall, we appreciate NATSAVE for its continued support to farmers and its commitment to responsible financial management in agriculture.

THE AGRITECH EXPO 2026 🌱🚜

As students, we had the incredible opportunity to attend the Agritech Expo on 18th April 2026 at GART, Chisamba.

The expo brought together a wide range of stakeholders and exhibitors in the agricultural sector, all showcasing innovations, technologies, and practices aimed at improving productivity and sustainability.

🔎 Key Observations
One of the most striking aspects was the rapid advancement of agricultural technology. From smart farming tools to modern machinery, it was clear that agriculture is becoming more efficient and adaptable.

Another major highlight was the strong emphasis on sustainable agriculture. Many solutions focused on organic methods and reducing dependence on chemicals, an essential step toward environmental protection and long-term productivity.

This experience deepened our understanding of how agriculture is evolving and reinforced the importance of embracing innovation and sustainability as future professionals in the field.

Overall, the expo was both insightful and educational. It bridged the gap between theory and practice, inspiring us to think critically about the future of agriculture and our role in it.
