GO & SHINE IN GERMANY 🇩🇪 LAKSHMI‼️
Lakshmi Swaminathan has now left Zambia 🇿🇲 to begin an exciting new chapter in Germany 🇩🇪, where she will study for a Master’s Degree in English and American Studies at a university in Bamberg.
Lakshmi recently obtained her ÖSD Z-A1 Certificate, which she successfully used as proof of German language proficiency for her visa application at the German Embassy in Lusaka. In this examination, Lakshmi achieved an outstanding mark of over 90% and was therefore automatically inducted into our — a special group at DDS reserved for students who score 90% or more in their ÖSD or Goethe examinations. Being part of is a sign of exceptional dedication, hard work and academic excellence.
Lakshmi is a truly brilliant student who has always shown perseverance, discipline and determination. Throughout her journey, she remained focused on her dream and worked tirelessly towards it. Her success is proof that with commitment and belief, great things are possible.
One of the greatest advantages of studying in Germany is that public university education is generally free, even up to Master’s degree level. This gives students from Zambia and many other countries the opportunity to receive a world-class education without the burden of high tuition fees. Furthermore, students who choose programmes taught entirely in English, such as Lakshmi’s Master’s Degree in English and American Studies, do not need to have very high levels of German before going to Germany. Often, an A1 or A2 level is sufficient for daily life and for the visa process, while students continue improving their German after arrival.
We were privileged to join Lakshmi and her family as we bade her farewell before her departure. It was a proud and emotional moment to see such a gifted and hardworking young lady leaving to pursue her dreams in Germany.
Congratulations, Lakshmi! We are incredibly proud of you and we wish you every success, happiness and God’s richest blessings as you begin your studies in Germany 🇩🇪

Chiuna Mandevu is among the 9 students who departed from Zambia 🇿🇲 last week to start a Bundesfreiwilligendienst (BFD) placement in Baden-Württemberg 🇩🇪 with our long-standing partner, AWO Württemberg.
Chiuna first joined DDS Lusaka to study German and, through determination and perseverance, progressed all the way to B1 level.
