I just love the way Jesus, who is the very word of God, spoke. He never needed to say alot. Each of his utterances were loaded. Big volumes of books have been written from single portions of scripture supported by other scriptures.

Beloved, Jesus never needed to say, be organized, protect what is yours, be transparent and yet cautious. Ensure everything is in the right place, never allow access to you anyhow and anytime.

Jesus only needed to say YOU ARE A CITY on a hill. He never said you are a village, or a comboni but a city. Now to understand him better, take a drive back in history, in the era and culture Jesus lived in.

1. Cities were organized.
2. Cities had gates, several gates which were guarded and closed and opened only on particular times.
3. Cities were built with enemies in mind; preparing for any possible attacks. This is why they were fortified with huge walls around them.
4. Cities were transactional. They always had traders coming in and going out.

Are you really a City? And one built on a hill for that matter?

If you are, then where are your walls? How about watchmen at the gates? What transactions are you known for? How organised is your CBD? How do you manage your waste? Is there a designated place for it?

Before we, by God's grace,step into the 2nd month of 2025, let us ensure we qualify for the status of being considered a City.

A gratitude filled day to you all even as we bid farewell to chapter 1 of this year.

Beloved, endeavor to receive fresh bread from the Lord. Remember, yesterday's bread cannot sustain you today.

Did you know that if Abraham held on to what God had said to him, he would have killed Isaac? Isaac never had to die because Abraham received a fresh word from God.

The same God who said, 'sacrifice to me your only son', is the same one who later said, ' do not lay your had on the lad, turn and see a lamb in the thicket and offer it as a sacrifice to me instead.'

Beloved, are you among those who are still walking in the word God said? Make up your mind today and begin walking in what God IS saying.

Remember! Manna was picked daily. Whatever was left over attracted magots overnight.

Ask God for DAILY BREAD. And he shall gladly give it.

It is only that Abel's life was cut short. Otherwise we would have heard his side of the story. I am pretty sure he never noticed anything about Cain's offering. This is because his mind, his heart and his whole was only on this big God he was sacrificing to.

Beloved, leave other denominations alone. Leave other religions alone. If your body, mind and soul is sold out to the God you worship, let others see, learn and mend their ways.

Romans 14:4 says you cannot judge another man's servant. To his own master he stands or falls.

1 Thessalonians 4:11-14 also says we need to mind our own business; making every effort to live at peace with all men.

When we preach Christ more with our lives than our speech, the world shall know him better.

We all know that Jesus preached and taught on many occasions during his three and half years ministry.

However, there is one sermon he taught on the mount which is recorded in three chapters of the gospel of Matthew (from chapter 5 to Chapter 7).

Allow me today to just talk about the conclusion of this long sermon which is recorded in Matthew 7:24-27 - the famous story of the wise and the foolish builders. I will not say much about it. We all know the story.

My heart today goes to those Christians who are neither wise nor foolish builders. They know the benefit of listening to God's word and doing it but they have lived their all lives under the shadows of people who listen to and practice the word of God.

Are you such a one? Maybe your parents are devoted Christians and their commitment to Christ and his word sustains you. Maybe you belong to a church where the leader is a devoted follower of Christ and his or her prayers and commitment to Christ rubs on you too.

There are also some whose parents and grandparents prayed and walked with God and this is what is making them enjoy God's hand on their lives.

If you are such a one, I am here to remind you that, though the house you are in is built on the rock, it is not yours. In this case the foolish builder is better than you. Atleast he knows the importance of building your own house. One day he will learn to put God's word into practice and his house will not fall.

Make up your mind beloved and begin building on the rock for yourself. You need to OWN that house on the rock. Stop enjoying borrowed strong houses. Stop moving from one church to the other in search of houses on the rock. Make up your mind and build yours. Atleast your children and their children will have shelter and will also learn the importance of building on the rock. Not ama yes papa; you are right papa; go deeper papa! When are you going to listen from God on your own?

There are people who must also benefit from your giftedness and yet you fail to reach them because you are saying, "what will society think? What will people think of me if they find me?

Beloved, sometimes just break some societal rules if that is going to make you more relevant. When Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman, his disciples MARVELLED; first because he spoke to a woman - society then was against that, secondly he spoke to a Samaritan - he was a jew and was not supposed to do that. Thirdly the woman was a pr******te - he should have taken a walk away from the well.

But, Jesus stayed and talked with the woman because he saw the results of their conversation; he was invited to stay two more days in Samaria and he taught and many believed. John 4:39-42.

Be careful who you don't talk to, what you don't do and where you don't go just because society will condemn you. There may be people waiting for you to make that move.

There is a security guard who must hear God's word or advise about being a good parent from a manager but the manager feels, it is inappropriate to mingle with those below him.

Teacher, there may be a hurting child in class whose condition cannot be helped with the Geography you teach but with your tender heart as a Barnabas you are.

Pastor, sometimes your flock don't need a sermon, they only need to loosen up from the pressures of life. You have been inviting the church to fast, you have never invited them to feast. Surprise them with a banquet. Let them feast and chat and dance and go back home without contributing a dime.

Dear mum, that woman who remains with your children; one day take her children out, the girls to the saloon, the boys to the barbershop, buy them pizza, spoil them as though they were yours.

It is in doing what is outside the norm that makes us attract blessings that are outside the norm. And those who MARVELLED we continue to marvel at the results.

Walking is lifting and setting down your feet in turn. While one foot is behind the other goes in front. Repeating this process in turn helps us to MOVE from one point to the other PURPOSEFULLY.

Ukwenda wemutemwikwa nipachalo. We walk on earth. You only lift one foot and suspend it in the air ahead of the other while the other foot still waits on the ground - the earth.

When the bible in Genesis 5:22,24 says, "Enock walked with God," it is saying to us, Enock lived, made progress, went about his business on earth with God.

Ifyaba Pa Chalo efingi. Abantu baba pa Chalo. You are not the only one who is surrounded with impossible, carefree, ungrateful, abatani, abanang'ani, abakaso, abamufulo and every other sort. We are on earth. We walk on earth. We make progress by lifting one leg while the other remain on earth. Ukwenda munyina nipa Chalo. Just in the chapter that follows, God regrets having made man (Gen 6:6). These wicked people never became wicked overnight. Even when Enock was walking with God they were busy being wicked. Infact Noah is Great grandson also walked with God (Gen. 6:9). In the midst of wickedness, he walked with God.

Make up your mind beloved to take every step in your life with God. It will never be easy and yet, it is always worth it.

I love watching babies' first steps. No baby says, 'lelo mwebantu nalaenda so remove for me everything in the way so that I do not bump into them and fall.' The baby just gets up and puts one foot in front of the other joyfully, without minding whose clapping or not, whose watching or not. Naiwe ima wende my friend. Tatwatote but ima. Tatwakumone nomba ima. Twalaseka but rise up friend and make up your mind and walk with God.

Chibusa, I am not here to disagree with you. It is true life limo ilakosa; making you feel as though the entire world is on your shoulders.

However, no matter how finished you think you are, God will never leave you without where to begin from. For this reason in every difficult moment you face in life, don't focus on what you have lost but count WHAT HAS REMAINED OF YOU. Chacine naupwa nomba finshi fisheleko. What has remained of you?

When we read Luke 5:4-5, we will see that Jesus' instructions to Peter were that, he must launch HIS OWN BOAT into the deep and then cast down HIS OWN NET. What Peter and his clue never had was a catch. They toiled the all night with their boat and net. They had where to begin from.

This is why God could not permit Satan to touch Job's life. Job needed to remain alive for a come-back. This is why even when God himself was disappointed with humanity and allowed is anger to destroy what he created with so much love, he ensure four couples and sets of two of each animal specie were preserved. Even when Elijah thought he was the only one who had not turned to Baal, God reminded him that; "I have left for myself 7,000 whose knees have not bowed before Baal." 1 Kings 19:18

Ukwamba lelo shift your focus from what is already gone and begin counting what has remained. It is that which God will use to asher you into your next level.

Beloved, as you pray for open doors, remember that at times God's instruction to you is that you shut some doors before you receive your miracle.

Apart from instructing the widow to borrow empty vessels, Elisha's other instruction was that she must shut the door before she begins pouring the oil - 2 Kings 4:4.

It is not only open doors that are a sign that God is with you. Closed doors may be part of the miracle too. Pay attention as you seek God this week.

When the bible says, "A fool says in his heart there is no God," it is not talking about a person who SAYS with his mouth, "there is no God."

When you read Psalm 14:1 and 53:1 you will notice that the bible does not mention saying with the mouth but saying WITH THE HEART.

What you say with your heart, the world does not know. You may be found with those who believe in God and yet your heart denies his existence.

But why was a strong word used against such people? Romans 10:10 says, "with the heart we believe unto righteousness." Yesu nao aebati, you are BLESSED if you believe without seeing - John 20:29. No one has ever seen God. Therefore those who believe he exists are blessed - Hebrews 11:6.

It is also a known fact that what you believe in your heart affects how you act and react in your day to day life.

Remember! Though actions may confirm the tag, the world will never hear these fools saying I am one; until that day when God himself shall separate the wheat from the tares.
