If your study is not published, how can it add to the board of knowledge?
Therefore, write an academic research paper with intentions of publishing it not just qualifying for graduation!!!

To review the literature for your academic research, browse through the latest published papers (within 5 years).
Focus on the abstract of each paper. Look for a sentence carrying the main results for that paper.
Make a list of all the results for each and every paper (minimum of 5 papers in your country, 5 in Africa, 5 at globe level) create a reference along.
Then you rest for a while before proceeding.

To identify a research topic; identify your area of interest, review the existing latest published literature on your area of interest. Identify the gap and develop a problem statement based on your literature. Finally generate a topic from your problem statement.
Then you are good to start writing your proposal.
