Growing Potatoes Without Soil: A Step-by-Step Guide
1. Aeroponics : Utilize aeroponic systems where potato plants are suspended, and their roots are nourished by misted nutrient solutions.
2. Materials Required: Aeroponic setup, potato tubers, nutrient-rich solution, pH testing kit, net pots.
3. Growing Process:
- Assemble the aeroponic system.
- Place the potato tubers into net pots.
- Prepare the nutrient solution and ensure it has a pH of 5.5-6.5.
- Regularly check misting schedules and monitor plant growth.
- Harvest when the plants have flowered and their foliage begins to die back.
4. Advantages: This method minimizes the risk of diseases, boosts yields, and optimizes space and water usage.

How to grow onions and garlic in an old styrofoam box: very easy
1. Prepare the Box: Clean the Styrofoam box and make several drainage holes in the bottom using a drill or sharp tool.
2. Fill with Soil: Mix potting soil with compost or well-rotted manure. Fill the box, leaving about an inch of space from the top.
3. Planting:
Onions: Plant onion sets with the pointy end up, about an inch deep and 4-6 inches apart.
Garlic: Plant cloves with the pointy end up, about 2 inches deep and 4 inches apart.
4. Watering: Water thoroughly after planting. Keep the soil moist, but avoid waterlogging.
5. Location: Place the box in a spot that gets at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily.
6. Maintenance: Keep the area weed-free, use mulch to retain moisture, and water regularly.
7. Harvesting:
Onions: Harvest when the tops begin to fall over and turn yellow.
Garlic: Harvest when several lower leaves brown but the upper leaves remain green.
8. Additional Care: Rotate crops annually to prevent disease and check for pests.
These steps provide a straightforward way to utilize an old Styrofoam box for growing onions and garlic, offering fresh produce at your convenience.
