Community Case Management (CCM) Program Advisor - Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases

PATH is home to the Malaria Control and Elimination Partnership in Africa (MACEPA), a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded project which provides technical assistance to National Malaria Control Programs in Africa to strengthen partner coordination, improve data systems and data use to better inform strategies and targeting of interventions and resources and, ultimately, to reduce malaria burden. Key components of this work are to generate evidence on novel and existing malaria tools to guide decision-makers, and to work with donors to ensure the resources needed to implement these interventions are available.

MACEPA is currently recruiting for a Community Case Management (CCM) Program Advisor to provide technical oversight and management in case management and CCM project activities’ implementation and optimization. This position is responsible for providing strategic and technical direction and implementation of case management and CCM activity design and outputs.

PATH is seeking a highly motivated individual with robust CCM experience, strong management skills, extensive malaria expertise, robust analytical and writing skills, and extensive organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with MACEPA’s country leads and regional and global technical staff to develop and implement evidence-based and technically sound CCM strategies in support of country malaria and community health programs.

Liaise with ministries of health and national malaria programs to ensure targeted MACEPA activities respond and adapt to country national strategic plans and annual needs

Lead cross-portfolio CCM working group.

Facilitate knowledge-sharing across global, regional, and country-based team-members to institutionalize knowledge and ensure consistency of PATH’s technical support, in CCM, but also in the areas of data quality and use and surveillance system strengthening.

Support development of annual country and global work plans and learnings for MACEPA and assist the country team to manage effective implementation of planned activities, including providing timely and relevant review and feedback throughout implementation.

Represent PATH and MACEPA at conferences, manage relationship and coordination with regional and international bodies.

Provide technical and operational assistance to the development of new concepts, proposals, and awards as relevant and as time permits.

Represent PATH internally and externally at donor workshops and meetings; at international conferences; and with peer organizations and private sector partners.

Identify, initiate, and participate in new opportunities, program design, proposal writing, and other business development efforts.

Required skills and experience:

Advanced degree in Public Health, Medicine, or related field.

Eight+ years of progressively responsible leadership roles in the design and/or delivery of public health programs and research with a preference for experience in developing country settings.

Five+ years of in-country experience leading and/or implementing CCM malaria programs in sub-Saharan Africa.

Excellent technical skills in the areas of malaria surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation with the ability to deliver quality, high impact projects while providing value to donors.

The situation is compounded for women and people with disabilities who face heightened vulnerability. Recognizing the urgent need to address these challenges, Focus Africa proposes a comprehensive project aimed at improving the adaptive capacity of rural communities in Zambia, with a focus on Monze and Kalomo Districts.



Objective The main objective of this project is to enhance the adaptive capacity of rural communities in dealing with climate impacts, not only by strengthening mitigation efforts but also by promoting sustainable practices that contribute to the restoration of degraded areas.



Specific Objectives:



1. To support communities in implementing targeted mitigation activities aimed at minimizing the impact of climate change.



2. To improve the adaptive capacity of communities in rural Zambia.



3. To improve the institutional capacity of government and traditional structures in climate mitigation and adaptation.



Description of Role: The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be based at the Lusaka office and will be responsible for designing and implementing the project’s monitoring and evaluation framework.
