Yesterday , Manica University had the privilege of hosting Mr Deogratius Kimera, Country Director at Chemonics International, for an inspiring mentorship session with our Pharmacy students.

Drawing from his professional journey, Mr Kimera shared candid insights into the challenges he has faced throughout his career, his experiences working across different African countries, including Nigeria and Tanzania, and the opportunities available to young professionals in the pharmaceutical industry.

His message encouraged our students to look beyond the traditional career paths and recognise the diverse opportunities available within the pharmaceutical sector.

We are grateful to Mr Kimera for taking the time to share his experiences, wisdom, and encouragement with our future pharmacists.

Our Bachelor of Social Work students are undertaking their Rural Attachment at Elizabeth’s Library in Kabwe, gaining valuable hands-on experience while contributing to the wellbeing and development of the surrounding rural communities.

Elizabeth’s Library is more than a place for books. It is a vibrant community hub supporting learning and development and extending its reach through a mobile library programme serving 18 rural villages and nearly 9,000 students.

During their attachment, our students are putting social work into practice through literacy support, youth mentorship, psychosocial support, life-skills activities and community engagement. They are also learning to identify community needs and understand how education, livelihoods and social wellbeing are interconnected.

This is education in action, developing compassionate, community-focused professionals who are prepared to make a meaningful difference wherever they serve.
