Right now I’m focused on growing, learning, and showing up for my students every day—but it’s kind of inspiring to think about where this path could lead.

Every month, our students participate in safety drills—fire drills, lockdown drills, and tornado drills. While these moments may interrupt the school day, they serve a critical purpose: preparing our students and staff to respond quickly, calmly, and safely in the event of an emergency.

These drills are not about creating fear—they are about building confidence, awareness, and readiness. Just like practicing a sport or studying for a test, repetition helps ensure that everyone knows what to do when it matters most.

By taking these drills seriously, we are helping create a safer environment for every child. Safety is a shared responsibility, and preparation is one of the most powerful tools we have.

Lately, I’ve really been reflecting on the impact of the 10-90 teaching Theory in my classroom—and I can honestly say it’s been a game changer.

For me, the beauty of this approach is in its balance. It pushes me to be intentional with my instruction while still leaving room for students to explore, question, and engage deeply with the material. Instead of doing all the talking, I’m guiding more—and that shift has made a huge difference.

As a STEM teacher here in the United States, I’ve seen my students become more curious, more confident, and more willing to take risks in their learning. Whether we’re diving into scientific concepts or working through hands-on problem-solving, the structure of the 10-90 approach helps keep lessons focused but flexible.

What I appreciate most is how it supports both teacher clarity and student ownership. I feel more effective in my planning, and my students feel more empowered in their learning—and that’s a win on both sides.

It’s not about doing more—it’s about doing what matters most, in the moments that count.
