The Ministry of Health, Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare, Central Statistical Office and National AIDS Council with support from ICAP at Columbia University, Tropical Disease Research Center, University of Zambia and the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will conduct the Zambia Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (ZAMPHIA) survey. ZAMPHIA survey are to:
To estimate HIV incidence, prevalence, and viral load suppression among adults and children. To describe the current status of the HIV epidemic and the uptake of prevention, care and treatment services in Zambia. The results of the survey will help guide HIV policy and programming. Survey team will visit selected households to collect information on critical health issues. They have valid identification from the Ministry of Health and are trained to protect the confidentially of participants and their health information. The survey team will be offering HIV counselling and testing and those in need further HIV care will receive referral to health care facilities. The Ministry of Health is encouraging the general public to actively participate in the ZAMPHIA survey if their households are selected to participate.
