UNIVERSITY SPORTS DAY HIGHLIGHTS
Last Saturday our University came alive with energy and excitement as youths from different parishes, including St. Helena and St. Peter, gathered for a vibrant day of sports. The atmosphere was filled with joy, laughter, and a true spirit of unity as teams not only competed but also shared skills, built friendships, and celebrated together.

Every group present fully immersed themselves in the day’s activities, making each moment lively and memorable. The highlight of the day was the thrilling showdown between the Combined team and the Oblates. It was a fierce and captivating contest, but in the end, the OMI emerged victorious, earning well-deserved recognition as champions of the day.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the teams and participants whose presence, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship made the event such a remarkable success. It was truly a day to remember!

Life is not only about constantly moving forward; it also requires moments of pause and reflection to evaluate the direction of one’s journey. Retreats and recollections provide such opportunities for deeper self-examination.
In this spirit, St. Bonaventure University continues to promote both academic and spiritual growth through its monthly recollections. The recollection for this month was held on 7 March 2026 and was facilitated by Fr. William Banda of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) under the theme “Through Lent to Easter.”
In his reflection, Fr. Banda invited the participants to engage in sincere self-examination. He encouraged them to reflect on the quality of their relationships with others, to renew their focus on God through prayer despite the many distractions of the modern world, and to honestly evaluate the behaviours that require transformation - especially during this sacred season of Lent.

​Today, we celebrate the women who are those ripples of change. We see this strength in the leaders of our institutions and in the mothers who are the heartbeat of every home. Their influence reaches far beyond what eyes can see, participating in shaping the character of our future.
​In a special way, we also honor our religious women, our sisters in faith who serve as the pillars of our spiritual community. Their lives are a profound testimony to grace, sacrifice, and unconditional love. Through their prayers and their tireless work,especially for the vulnerable, they remind us that true leadership is, at its core, an act of service.

​To every woman, May you continue to cast your stones of kindness, wisdom, and faith, knowing that the ripples you create are changing the world with your testimony of our resurrected Lord, Christ our Saviour.

History has been written this afternoon at the University pitch! In a thrilling and nerve-stretching final, the Combined Brothers rose to the occasion and brought down the Conventual Friars with a hard-fought 2:1 victory in the just-ended University Inter-Community Competition.

It was not merely a game; it was a contest of spirit, discipline, and brotherhood. Every pass carried hope, every tackle demanded courage, and every goal echoed determination. The Conventual Friars fought valiantly, proving that true competition is not about hostility but about excellence meeting excellence. Yet, as life itself teaches us, every contest crowns one victor at a time.

Today, triumph smiled upon the Combined Brothers. 🏆 Their victory reminds us of a simple philosophical truth: success is never accidental - it is born from unity, perseverance, and the willingness to rise after every challenge.

A huge congratulations to the champions of this year’s tournament! And heartfelt appreciation to all the teams who participated across the various disciplines (Volleyball, Basketball, and beyond) giving their very best and turning sport into a celebration of community and character.

The tournament may end, but the spirit it has awakened continues. Until the next whistle blows, let the echoes of this victory inspire us all!

TODAY WE BEGIN LENT 🕊️

Today, the Church enters the holy season of Lent a sacred journey of 40 days that leads us to Easter. As ashes are placed on our foreheads, we are reminded of a simple but powerful truth: “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

Lent is not just about giving things up; it is about turning back to God. Through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, we are invited to examine our hearts, renew our faith, and grow in love for God and neighbour.

May this season be a time of grace for us all a time to let go of what weighs us down and to embrace what truly gives life.

“Repent, and believe in the Gospel.”

More drama, more fire, more unforgettable moments! 🔥⚽ The University Inter-Communities Tournament has truly shifted into high gear, and yesterday’s fixtures delivered nothing short of pure football theatre.

First up was the explosive showdown between the OFM Friars and the Conventual Friars - a clash that had intensity written all over it. From the first whistle, it was a battle of grit and determination. The OFM Friars looked sharp and in control for most of the game, pressing hard and dictating the tempo. It seemed like their victory was only a matter of time… but football can be brutally unpredictable! In a stunning twist that left spectators breathless, the Conventual Friars flipped the script in the blink of an eye, turning pressure into precision and chances into goals. When the final whistle blew, it was the Conventuals celebrating a commanding 3:1 victory.

As if that wasn’t enough drama, the Capuchin Friars locked horns with the Combined Team in another nerve-wracking encounter. It was a tightly contested battle from start to finish, neither side willing to give an inch. End-to-end action, relentless tackles, and moments of brilliance defined the game as both teams fought to a thrilling 2:2 draw. And so, it all came down to the ultimate test of composure - penalties.
Under immense pressure, the Combined Team revealed a side no one saw coming. Calm, clinical, and confident, they converted their chances with precision. The Capuchins fought valiantly, but in the shootout it was the Combined Team who stood tallest, sealing a dramatic 4:3 victory on penalties and knocking the Capuchin Friars out of the tournament.
And now, all roads lead to the GRAND FINAL! ⚽🏆 The Conventual Friars will rock it against the fearless Combined Team on 19th February, 2026 in what promises to be an electrifying and unpredictable showdown. Two determined sides, one trophy, one decisive moment.
Come all and witness this great and unpredictable climax - because in this tournament, anything can happen!

The Inter-Communities Games have officially exploded into their most dramatic and unpredictable phase yet 😮🔥! In a jaw-dropping turn of events, the defending champions - Salesians of Don Bosco - have been knocked out, proving once again that in this tournament, past glory offers no guarantees.

And the shocks didn’t stop there. Meanwhile, the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI) saw their campaign come to a crushing end after being overpowered by the Combined Team in a thrilling 3-1 encounter, a result that sealed OMI’s elimination and announced the Combined Team as serious contenders ⚡⚽.

With giants falling and underdogs rising, the battle for the trophy is now wide open. Standing between the cup and destiny are the final four:
Capuchins, OFM, the Combined Team, and the Conventual Friars - each hungry, battle-tested, and smelling silverware 🏆.

So the big question echoes louder than ever:
