Jelly Babies (Toddlers 18 Months - 2.6 Years old)
This class is based on creative and structured learning experiences that promote discovery and development. Activities encourage vocabulary growth and improve Fine and Gross motor skills, as well as introduce basic self-help skills. This year of the toddler is marked by large gains in Gross & Fine motor skills and language development. This classroom will focus on providing your child with lots of Gross & Fine motor opportunities to work on walking, running, jumping, and kicking to improve balance and coordination. You will also see greater efforts to communicate and a rapid vocabulary growth. We will reinforce naming of the environment around them and introduce sign language. This allows the child who will undoubtedly understand more than he/she can say, to express themselves clearly, reducing communication frustrations and increasing self-esteem. This child will think, "I can do it!"

Dippy Ducks (2.6 - 3.6 Years old)
So many important milestones are reached during this time, from potty training to emerging language development. Little ones are so curious about the world, and we let them explore in a safe and educational environment. We also introduce pre-reading skills using the British Letterland Literacy and reading curriculum. Activities are planned to allow them to explore and learn in a relaxed atmosphere. It's not too structured and therefore allows independent personalities to shine freely. We work on building Fine and Gross motor skills, self-help skills, and emerging social skills.
Brilliant Butterflies: (3.6 - 4.6 Years old)
Our preschool classrooms begin to prepare children for grade school by working on their reading and writing readiness skills using the British Letterland Literacy and reading curriculum. They learn through role playing and structured discovery, small group exploration, and teacher led lessons. Children are focused on one letter a week throughout the school year and themes are built around each letter. Students learn songs, finger-plays, and poems that go along with each letter. Our special curriculum includes science, French, and social etiquette. We mix in some P.E. music and art and it's a great balance of fun, learning and play!
Awesome Angels: (4.6 -5.6 Years old)
Our Reception class is designed to prepare our children for success in the 1st grade of Primary school. We continue to use the British Letterland Literacy and reading curriculum and incorporate other literacy skills like comprehension and spelling. This full-time class not only explores the basics of math, reading and writing, but through numerous centers in their room, delve into the arena of computers, natural science, dramatic play, art, and music to name a few. Our goal is to bridge the gap between early childhood and Primary education. We build the foundation for children to be successful throughout their school career.
WELCOME TO FIELDS ROAD PRIMARY SCHOOL
Our Primary section is diverse and lively. We take pride in knowing children as unique individuals, and have a hardworking and dedicated staff team who are committed to enabling all to succeed.
Alongside rigorously planned lessons and activities in Literacy and Numeracy, we offer an exciting curriculum which is enriched by high-quality provision, particularly in the creative arts. We ensure that children in our school are valued and listened to, and place a strong emphasis on the development of social skills and self-esteem.
Childhood is a very special time, and we are committed to making it as happy and productive as possible for all of the children in our care.
KS1 (6-8yrs) The curriculum is based on a balance of formal teaching and close attention to each child's development in social skills, creativity, and understanding of the world. We have highly structured programmes in place for Literacy, Phonics and Numeracy, as well as a dedicated support teacher and team of teaching assistants who deliver intervention where it is required. Children are grouped in single and mixed-age classes, but are always taught according to their individual needs. Learning at this age is practical, fun and creative and takes account of children's developing individual needs. We use Bug Club Phonics and Letterland, to develop early reading skills.
KS2 (9-12) As children move to KS2, they learn to apply their skills to increasingly complex tasks through a variety of learning opportunities, including specific teaching in Literacy and Numeracy.
PSHE&C. We place a strong emphasis on PSHE&C and use the PSHE&C Association scheme of work. This supports our children in developing effective learning behaviours, emotional literacy, and understanding their place as citizens within the wider community.
Specialist Teaching
Children have access to specialist teaching in Art, Music, IT and Physical Education. We have an outdoor learning officer, who delivers gardening and nature study across the whole school.
