Government Hails Eden University for Shaping Future Diplomats
Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary for International Relations and Cooperation, Ms. Etambuyu Anamela Gundersen, has officially opened the EmergeβEden International Model United Nations (MUN) Conference 2026, commending the initiative hosted by Eden University for its role in shaping future leaders in diplomacy and international relations.
Ms. Gundersen said the conference provides a valuable platform for young people to strengthen their understanding of global diplomacy, consensus-building, and the core principles that guide the United Nations system.
She noted that Government supports such initiatives, as they enhance youth participation in national, regional, and global decision-making processes.
United Nations Resident Coordinator Seth Broekman, described the gathering as more than a simulation, calling it a βtraining ground for diplomacy.β He said the experience equips participants with critical skills needed to navigate a world increasingly affected by polarization, misinformation, and declining public trust.
And Eden University Vice Chancellor, Dr. Alvert Ngβandu, reaffirmed Eden Universityβs commitment to providing platforms that empower young people and promote global citizenship through academic and experiential learning opportunities.
The conference, running under the theme βBeyond 2030: Rethinking Global Cooperation in a Polarized World,β brings together young delegates to debate and explore solutions to pressing global governance and cooperation challenges, with Eden University at the centre of hosting and academic coordination.
