Jacob Seer's latest piece
"the map is not the territory"

Tomorrow we will reveal Jacob Seer's next hyperrealistic piece. But for now take a look at this eye process. You should always start with lighter tones then gradually make them darker. This allows you to get more range in your drawings thus expressing the shapes better.

3 secrets to getting better at any art faster!

So you have been creating art and now you feel kind of stuck at your current level? These secrets will help anybody get better
1. Get better tools. It seems super obvious but there are usually better tools out there. And remember just because they are expensive it doesn't mean they are the best. Depending on your desired effect you might need something different. For example many artists prefer to use Compressed charcoal to make their own charcoal powder because it gets darker than the store bought one. It's very important to know the effect you want and get tools that create that effect not just a random 4b pencil.
2. Asking the right questions. Many people ask me how to shade. That is a good question but the real question should be what is light and form and how do I depict that in my art. Theory is usually overlooked in art or its misunderstood. Really getting to the heart of the problem is an issue for most artists and its why being self taught slows progression. But how do you learn to ask the right questions?
3. Criticism. Learn to take people's criticism and not only take it but look into what they are talking about. Although some people don't know what the hell they are talking about(its best to ask someone how to improve whatever they are criticizing. If they can't answer then they probably don't know what they are talking about.)It's also important to become a critic of your own work. I'm personally my most harsh critic and I'm never satisfied with my work.
Bonus tip. Although being self taught is possible. It's much easier to find a mentor who can get you from nice artwork to breathtaking and amazing pieces. We offer art classes for this purpose, to help people who really want to learn about art become great artists. Dm us for more info
