"Marriage is the only thing remaining"

I was conducting a meeting on Examination Management and Administration. One of the topics of discussion was examination malpractice and how teachers can avoid being caught in the web.

My last point in my presentation was to encourage teachers to engage in side hustle to make legitimate money and avoid the temptations of aiding candidates during examinations for money. I then asked for questions from the audience. Three hands went up one of which was for a lady.

When I pointed at her, she indicated that she was not putting up her hand to ask a question but to share an experience about her side hustle arising from my last point in my presentation.

She narrated how after she was deployed to rural school school in Kazungula district last year(among the 30 000 teachers) she looked around for opportunities. She discovered that people in that area were walking long distances to grind their maize as there was no grinding meal near by. She then got a loan and bought a grinding meal which is serving that community since last year and providing her with some extra income.

I jokingly asked her if she is married to which she responded "marriage is the only thing remaining and that too will come to pass". I had written about this lady in 2022. This is the lady who had to endure alot of difficulties to rewrite her GCE. She had to make several attempts to make a full certificate and struggled through Primary School college. She was left out on deployment twice before getting deployed in 2022 among the 30000 teachers.

Her story is becoming more interesting and more inspiring. Failure is not the end of the road. It's just an opportunity to make another attempt. Never give up. Keep on trying. If you are rewriting this year and you don't make it, register again for next year
